Apple Sold 270,000 iPhones in the first 2 days

"Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the product’s first two days, the last two days of the quarter, beating most analysts’ estimates of 200,000. The enthusiasm for Apple’s first mobile phone gave Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs an early victory in his plan to win a share of the market, which is almost four times bigger than the personal-computer industry. heh if you read tha article att ony activated 146k att ovly counts those as sales CSR’s and the carrier don get credited for selling phones. they get credited for howm any activations and extensions of your contractg mor commenly known as “upgrades”. thats how att an the rest of the wirless industry count it.

Now apples numbers are bigger cause it is the hardware manufacture and couns sales via shipments sold

okay, So 270,000 sold and only 146,000 activations. So where did the other 124,000 go? they can’t all be on ebay.

The missing 124k are the phones ATT most likely could not activate in the first two days due to “server issues”.

Weren’t the 146,000 units the amount At&t activated within the first 30 hours?
Assuming Apple did their statics by a full 48 hour selling period, that means At&t *could* have activated almost 240,000 in 48 hours.

This is assuming At&t activated all phones at an equal rate (which we know they didn’t).

In other words, the two statics should be different, because they take (I think) into account two different amounts of time.

So I believe this makes it possible that they sold 500,000 the first weekend…

the article also states that about 10,000 people had activation problems.

gal – you are still typing like a 2 year old? can you not check your spelling before pushing the button?

all in all I think this was good news for apple for first 30 hours.

Both numbers are for the first 30 hours as they both were reporting quarterly numbers which ended at the same time.

Ya know, people buying phones late on Saturday might take a little while to get it activated? They have to charge it, install iTunes on their computer, and maybe go on a date after staying in line for three days? That means a long shower.

The first 30 hours, they sold a whale of a lot more iPhones than iPods in their first 30 hours. And look where iPods are now?

Gal must have been typing with his tongue.
