The first Wireless USB PCs have been announced
Dell and Lenovo have jumped out in front of the pack, announcing Monday the first wireless USB notebooks to hit production. Along with wireless hubs and wireless USB adapters from D-Link and IOGear, the ThinkPad L61 and the Inspiron 1720 are set to be produced in time for back-to-school and holiday shopping. Wireless USB should become more popular in future months, with up to 480 megabits per second at 10 feet and 110 mbps at 30 feet of high-speed flava’ at your fingertips…faster than Bluetooth, and more power-conscious than WiFi. And, with out-of-the-box functionality with legacy USB products, their use isn’t just for the uber-tech-savvy.

Yay! I’m all for Less cables. Now when will we have wireless power?
I’m just more curious about the products that will support wireless usb.
Yay, more things that are flying through the air and maybe? causing health issues…j/k
oh well, im all for fewer wires too.
More airwaves I swear one day we are all going to look at this in the way the matrix (not entirely) showed it to us.
couldn’t u use this technology like wifi, u know just like internet over usb, exept wireless!
So what it’s like way better than bluetooth but not as good as a wired connection??? The hell does wireless USB mean??????
For what it’s worth, the first reviews of wireless USB devices and hubs has not been favorable for things like external hard drives.
Devices such as keyboards and gamepads have fared a little better, but still have some issues.
It’s a new technology, so, hey, whatever.
