Nokia 8600 Luna Unboxing
As much of a love/hate relationship we have with Motorola, Nokia continues to constantly impress us. They know how to make phones, damn it! The Nokia 8600 Luna could be considered the baby brother of the Nokia 8800 series, but really shines by itself. It features a smoked glass element with an all metal body and doesn’t fail in the looks department. Specs wise it’s an average device nowadays with quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity (thankfully!), a 2 megapixel camera which is revealed when the slider is up, and Series 40 OS. Definitely one of the more stylish phones we’ve come across…Plus the keypad slowly glows through the case when in standby mode. Woweee! Take a look at it up close in our gallery!
Thanks, CTI NYC!

really really hot, how big is it though?

Does it work as a phone or not? The 8800 didn’t do this, I assume since it has the GSM/EDGE setup that it does?

@victor : huh? 8800 and 8801 (same phone as 8800 but has the 850 band) both work in the states on Cingular/At&t.

I normally don’t post admittedly snarky things like this, but my curiosity has gotten the better of me:
*Do you have a life?* For several weeks now you seem to have made it your mission to be one of the first people to reply to every single article on this site. At first I was only mildly amused - “aww, how cute, some 12 year old kid wants to make a digital name for himself - but you’ve made I don’t know how many dozens of posts now, and NOT A SINGLE ONE HAS ADDED ANY VALUE WHATSOEVER.
People read the comments to see what useful, funny, or scandalous (yay) insights other people might have made - now, as soon as I see “victor” as the author, I skip right over it.
If you really do want to make a name for yourself, then SAY SOMETHING USEFUL or don’t say anything at all.
And if this is what you do because you have nothing better to do… then wow, that IS amusing!

Don’t thank CTI, they are pricks. I wanted to give them my $600 for a phone and they were rude as hell so I bought it from egadgetdepot.

I do make it a purpose to be the first to comment, not to draw attention to myself or to any other cause. I do it because my phone (BB 8700c) normally allows me to comment even before you do, not that you can’t. Also in reference to this post I appologize, I confused it with the Nokia n800 which is what I was thinking about not the 8800. I was asking this question very seriously and yes from time to time my comments make no sense and no I am not a 12yr making a digital name for myself.
The comments normally reflect what I think of the post and its link, if you don’t like them please feel free to comment back I read them daily and if you haven’t seen I also have made it a bit of a competition with eJay, another commenter.
I love BG and its site and to make it better for you and only you will make sure to place more note worthy comments.
Hope you continue to read anything I have to say and if you don’t I am not forcing you to and will not think any less of you.
victor.
PS I am 26 and from time to time have a bit more free time than most people.

Totally off subject:
Has bg reviewed the n800? If so, someone point me to a link. I’m interested in seeing what he thinks.
As for the above phone, I’m not surprised nokia has mad an aesthetically catchy phone. Though it would have been nice if they’d have implemented the same camera as their n95 and its browser. Oh well.

Victor, How does the 8700 let you comment before blah? You get me? lol A couple of time I thought about being the first and only came back to see you won. . . YOU’RE GOING DOWN

LeoAllen…. I am going to hurt you… LOL Hey you and eJay are also on this. But hey maybe we can see who does what. On the 8700 well it seems that BGR’s Mobile edition can allow you to post on certain phones. I might be wrong but hey hope you are up for the challenge.

Nokia 8600 luna is my favorite after the N95 but i think the luna is just pricey for no rhyme and reason. So what if its got a scratch less screen, etc. It lacks function ability if you ask me. Also if i ever go this phone i would still backup my mobile data (i use zyb.com) even though its built to last.

I’m using the 8800 Sirocco edition (black). and my previous phone was the 8801 (chrome). I checked out the 8600 recently and the only difference I saw was a slightly bigger (taller) screen and the smoked glass part.
