XP sales growing stronger
In a move that should be a wake-up call to the suits over at Microsoft, the company has revealed that it expects its Windows XP operating system to become even more popular in the coming fiscal year. XP, supposedly rendered obsolete by, ahem, Windows Vista, is expected to make up 22% of the total OS revenue. Vista clocks in 78% market share (no, they’re not still hawking Windows ME). This is up from the current 85% to 15% split. Could this mean that Vista is still far from being polished enough to actually compete with the company’s previous operating system? This is not a good sign at all.

Great maybe they will extend the life a little longer.
This is starting to sound like “Coke” and “New Coke”.
XP is still alive and well…I can’t say I’m surprised!
Xevious, that is to funny!
What if Microsoft had to let Vista quietly slip off into the netherworld as people continued to prefer XP?
(For the record I am an MS fanboy and the folks I know who have Vista love it and would never go back to XP. Also, I don’t have Vista (too dang expensive) so take my comment for what it is worth.)

Don’t you mean XP clocks in at 78%, not Vista?
Oops, my bad. Re-read the article. I thought it was referring to % installed base, not sales.
I use Vista at Home and XP at work. After 5-6 month of solid usage I can say I like Vista much better and wish they would let me upgrade at work. Vista does have a few bugs but so does XP.
I feel comfortable enough with Vista that I will be upgrading my mom to it next month.
Most of the people I know that have Vista would not go back to XP.
-My usage is web development and multimedia.
My thoughts… enjoy!
-B!
So I’m buying a new laptop soon(within 2 weeks) and I wanted XP but figured I might as well go Vista because I figured it is “suppose” to be the next big thing, but with this. . . should I just stay XP?
