Motorola looking to replace CEO?

As Motorola continues to lose market share to its ever growing competition, the company may be moving to look for a replacement for current CEO Ed Zander. Zander has had a tumultuous ride as CEO. He ushered in record profits during the "era of the RAZR," but has had significant trouble as of late as he has struggled to keep the company relevant and profitable in the rapidly changed landscape of the worldwide wireless industry. Motorola’s board of directors has held meetings with at least on potential CEO successor, former MCI boss Michael D. Capellas, and may be looking at promoting current COO Greg Brown. The company hasn’t made any official statements, but speculation about their motivation for moving the annual analyst meeting from July 23rd until September is high, with many analysts speculating that they might be buying time to find a replacement for Zander. It’s clear that Motorola needs to move in a new direction, and leaks like the Sidekick Zante sure don’t help and replacing their current CEO could be a move in the right direction. Sorry, Zander…but just so you know, we’ve always got a place for you here at BGR. Zander’s Corner, anyone?

Thanks, Joyce

All companies will look to replace the CEO blaming him for the loss in profits but they just don’t realize that their products sometimes make it worse, Zante.. not their best association. Well the Q didn’t help either. Now I wonder what he will do. And no no Zanders corner.

Maybe they shouldnt have screwed over fellow americans time after time. I would love to buy a z8 with u.s. specs, an unlocked z6 or v8, but they dont offer them to us. they have treated us like the red headed step child of the cell phone world. If I buy form an asin source they wont honer the warranty, I had 3 v3i,s brick on me. maybe ed, if you would take care of americans, americans would take care of you. You cant sell phones to us, if you dont offer them to us.

caust thos crappy phones are the best the company can offer. I agree lowquality of brand with high prces dose not make sense. changing out CEO an repeating the same pattern will only reierate that.

tim, what you don’t realise is you or i am not motorola’s customers. motorola, as well as other phone vendors, bow to demands and requirements of operators like verizon, vodafone and tmobile. there is a reason why you and i are called end-users, and operators are called customers. because motorola sells the phone to operators, who then sells it to us. if u wanna blame, blame operators who prevent vendors from selling unlocked phones. thats the basis of zander’s alleged remark that “i love my job but i hate my customers”. he is refering to the fact that he wants to sell great stuff to end-users, but is hampered by business contracts of his customers (operators).
