We have reason to believe that the highly anticipated Virtual BlackBerry for Windows Mobile devices will make it’s debut on the T-Mobile Dash (HTC S620). I apologize for the lack of details, but as more concrete news becomes readily available to the BGR staff, you will be the first to know!

This will be great, maybe there is a reason for me to get this phone after all. I do enjoy the BB atmosphere but having it load on such a thin yet powerful (somewhat, don’t quote me on it) device would be great. Let us know when you get more info.

Wow, interesting, but why would RIM do this? Their OS and push e-mail is what sells their devices, because we all know RIM is so slow out of the gate with getting us the latest technology. So RIM would essentially turn into Microsoft, and just publish software now? This would be hot if it ran on the Kaiser

This is just one outlet for capitalizing on people who want the variety of various hardware brands but do not want to compromise the security and interface of the BlackBerry. It makes sense on a number of levels, especially when you look at RIM’s bread and butter being monthly service fees. I think there will be a trade-off of users dumping their hardware for a WM device, but they will come out on top when it comes to profits. It’s a smart move.

It’s a hybrid between their BlackBerry Built-In and BlackBerry Connect programs. You don’t have to worry about BlackBerry Connect’s interoperability with the built-in mail client on Windows Mobile because you get the BlackBerry mail client; you also get MDS connectivity and browser services for a virtual VPN back into your network.
There’s a lot of benefits to be had. For example, we recently passed over an application that was BlackBerry only due to the use of a few hundred Windows Mobile devices. This would now allow us to install BlackBerry-specifc applications to a Windows Mobile device in a virtual operating system environment. Think VMWare: BlackBerry Edition.

Why pay RIM for their client/service when MS offers OTA push/sync for free?

Any idea how BES IT policies will affect the device? Right now I can’t use any of my favorite 3rd party apps due to IT Policies. I just ordered a Dash, so this may be interesting.

Interesting — I have a Dash and last week when I finally got around to upgrading the Windows Mobile OS, it crashed. My friendly Tmobile reps encouraged me to take a replacement BB8800 at no charge (which I did). This makes me think there are issues with the Dash. Why switch me from my free with service device to a $300 device for no charge?

Leo Allen; since we don’t know each other I won’t take offence to your remark. I am just passing on the info I was given. I have absolutely nothing to gain by making up a story. Any way, I haven’t been called a liar since I was probably in Jr. High. You made me laugh.

artie, i think the info you got might be about 3 or 4 months early. No way Sprint or Verizon would get the Curve this soon after the GSM was released.

She got on her pc and checked and said yes in a couple of weeks. I asked her to check again and she did. I knew it was too early for Sprint to get the Curve. Oh well what can I say..
