Google picks up Postini
Given their recent spate of frenetic activity, you’d almost be forgiven for thinking that Google had forgotten about its GMail email service. Fear no more, as the company has just announced a massive acquisition. Google has just acquired email security company Postini for a tidy sum of $625 million. Postini, for those that don’t know, is in the business of scanning incoming messages for viruses, trojans, and other malware. If the service detects such incoming evil, it effectively quarantines the messages, prohibiting them from causing further harm. Postini is used by many many enterprise level clients, including large corporations, large universities, and much more. We even use it here at BGR. This could be a huge boost to Google’s virus scanning services, making GMail more secure than ever. Everyone feel a bit better now? Good, we do too.

Great now I feel my emails are even safer, way to go google. Let’s keep everyone safe.
