Motorola Z9 unveiled! Can ya feel it? Huh, huh?

Motorola has been oh so sneaky with the handsets as of late, and we’ve hit the jackpot. Motorola’s Z9 is apparently a new slider phone which bears resemblance to the RAZR 2 series. Oh, and get this — it’s AT&T branded with an AT&T browser key, and even AT&T firmware. Some quick specs include 3G (which was not working on our unit), a 2 megapixel camera with flash, Motorola Synergy OS, Live Video Share, and expandable memory via microSD card. The construction is real good on this, and that’s not saying much; it’s an early prototype we scored from deep, deep down inside Moto HQ. The buttons are a little stiff, but again — early unit. The Motorola Z9 also takes cues from AT&T’s upcoming Motorola V9 handset. If there is anything you want to know specifically about the new Motorola Z9, drop us a comment, and we’ll check it out. those “keys” look really strange, i don’t like it… I wonder if they’ll replace them w/ something like the chocolate, at least on the first layer of the phone

Can you check out the Bluetooth profiles and make sure they are all there? Also, install google maps on it and see if it has the “Java Nag” where it asks everytime it tries to download data.

AT&T didnt cripple any Bluetooth profiles with the V3xx. Why would they cripple the V9 or Z9 ?? I just dont see it happening.
    Probably have A2DP as well.

Looks like a RIZR Z3 variant to me. The specs you are giving also match the RIZR pretty closely. I have the RIZR and it’s a decent phone. It sells for about $200 on eBay for an unlocked/unbranded model.

Does this have a larger screen than the RAZR2 series?? Looks almost like 2.4″, or is it an optical illusion??

I like the side by side pick with the razr2, I would really like to see it next to a z3 or 6 for a size comparison.

Hey baldilocks, I measured them from my computer screen, not real accurate I know. From what I could tell, the screens appear to be the same height, but the z9 is a little wider..

Hey Boy Genius, question about the buttons. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but im just verifying this information for myself and anyone that might be thinking this:
Why are all the buttons on the phone round silver…plain… buttons? Im going to assume this is just for prototype’s sake but I just want verify this as true…

Yah, I dont know why they didnt use a larger screen in the RAZR2’s. Sure looks like there is plenty of room for it.

I’d like to know how the video works…does it need to be slide open to keep the action rolling or can it be operated in closed mode? I’d love to bust my co-worker who i just know steals food from my desk at least once per week. Or just know that its a giant mouse/rat thats doing it.

how is the quality of the phones camera? (could a picture taken by it be sent to me?)

does the phone have the same voice activated controlls as the Razr2 v9?

does it have the same ability to read txt messages to you as does the Razr2?

when will at&t be launching the phone, (any rumored dates?)?
