HTC Kaiser announced on T-Mobile Germany
As if we didn’t know already, that the best phones always drop first elsewhere. (Except that phone, of course) T-Mobile Germany has just announced the HTC Kaiser, cleverly nicknamed the MDA Vario III. The phone will be available sometime in late August for an unknown number of Euros. The Kaiser’s specs are virtually unchanged, with the Vario III still sporting the 3 megapixel camera, HSUPA, Wi-Fi, and that fantastic sliding, tilting keyboard. Could an American AT&T launch be on the horizon? Who knows, but at least we’ll be able to import them for a hefty fee. Sorry BG, but your "cool kid on the block" status is rapidly expiring.

I hope they didn’t change the front of it…The prototype looks way better!! Hope it lands on TMO USA sometime soon

I want this phone and would like to see a US version (with all the fixings) but why do I need to wait for so long.

Well, I know that the AT&T 8525 came out sometime last year in November. This unit updates (replaces) the 8525 at AT&T. This makes me wonder if we’ll have to wait until November 2007 before we see the Kaiser in the US market. I was really hoping for a July/August US release.

I definately agree that it looks like CRAPOLA! I thought that HTC was going to start bringing their phones HTC branded to the US. The Kaiser is a nice phone but not with t-mobile service and that fugly MDA branding…

I know a website that has sold 3 HTC Kaisers already for $1,600 EACH.
This phone is great but I am over the sliding keyboard, thats why I bought a HTC Trinity and installed WM6.
This has great specs though, but weighing in at 192 grams is just too much. I know someone who has it and he weighed it for me.

I had a sprint 6700 with sliding keyboard. Hardware was nice. Winmo five not nice. Froze on me every day. Now using blackberry curve and loving it.
