Nintendo Wii crushes Sony Playstation 3. Again.
As if we needed yet another piece of evidence that the Nintendo Wii is beating the Sony Playstation 3 in more ways that one. It seems that Nintendo’s console outsold Sony’s by a margin of 6 to 1. That’s 270,000 - 40,000 units. Whoa. Maybe Sony should consider getting out of the console game entirely? They have yet to sell 1 million units in Japan, which is typically a hot market for Japanese-made console systems. The Xbox 360 has only pushed 330,000 units since it was launched there last fall, but given its foreigner status coupled with its relative success in the U.S., that number isn’t much for Microsoft to be worried about. Sony, on the other hand, has a lot to be worried about. Get your head out of the clouds, guys! Can we get a price drop already?

It’ll get better this fall into winter season. There’s a bunch of games announced to launch from September to November. In the midst of all the negativity of the console, no one gives the PS3 respect for having more original titles than the other consoles. Yeah Microsoft has been acquiring former PS2 exclusives but in the grand scheme of things, I’d really rather have totally new IP. With games like Lair, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Eye of Judgement’ Folklore, and Haze (timed exclusive), the new IP for this year has me excited. On top of that there’s the sequals Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear, and Socom. All those titles are exclusive and not counting all the great multiplatform games that are coming out for both PS3 and 360. With E3 coming next week, who knows, there may be even more titles lauching. Its to early to say Sony should give up, especially when the Wii bubble could burst at any moment.

Sigh…I hate the Wii. I’ll buy the PS3 after the first price drop. PS3’s power is too enticing and I can see a longer shelf life because of it. Of course, it won’t matter if Sony doesn’t sell more of these at a better pace.

It shows that people are ready for something that is a little ‘outside of the box’. The PS3, to the general public, is just a beefed up PS2. No special cool controllers to go w/ it, just the same type of titles over and over again. The Wii introduces a new style of controlling your game. Some support acting out what your character is doing, which, is actually innovative. Rather than having to buy a new proprietary controller for every game, the Wii controller can adapt in some respects. Meanwhile, sony may give rumble back to its’ controllers… Decisions, decisions… lol. IMO, I like them both, I think for graphics get the PS3, for innovative gameplay grab a Wii…

I can understand that Sony is reluctant to do a price drop being that they are already losing about $250 with each machine sold.

The Wii is definitely a fun systems, but I think the PS3 will come up. It is an entire entertainment center especially for people who don’t currently have a game system and want to buy a new one.
