Motorola RAZR V9 coming to AT&T

Yeah, that RAZR. It looks like the venerable RAZR 2 will be heading to AT&T before too long. The good ole’ FCC has leaked some regulatory documents, including a product manual that clearly references the old Cingular. If that isn’t enough evidence for you, the "RAZR 2" is a 3G, HSDPA capable handset. $10 to you if you can name America’s only HSDPA capable network. Yep, you’re right. In addition, the Motorola V9 pictured in the FCC docs has a Cingular "Jack" logo, and Cingular Video key on the keypad. The RAZR V9 is a powerhouse of a handset, sporting an aluminum body, 2 megapixel camera, JUIX Synergy operating system, and full featured media player. Oh, yeah, and it’s got the aforementioned HSDPA goodness. No word on precisely when this baby will drop, but FCC approval and printed manuals means that it’s getting close to go time.

I thought the V9 had the Synergy UI and the thicker body, and the V8 was the one with EDGE and the JUIX UI? What does the V9m (CDMA) have?

Pete the V9m is the CDMA version of the V9 and it does run the synergy UI. I thought the V9 did to so BG please tell me we’re wrong.

You guys are, unfortunately, correct…the V9 sports the lowly Synergy UI. No JUIX love for AT&T customers, at least not for the time being. Thanks as always for the sharp eyes!

Just another correction…the Verizon V9m runs Verizons UI, you know, the one everyone hates? The V9 runs synergy (think AT&T V3xx), and the V8 runs JUIX. The V9, and V9m are the same thickness as the RAZR, with the V8 being slimmer by around 2mm if I recall correctly.

It will be out in mid/late August.

Price is $299.99 with a 2 yr contract and there is a $20 instant rebate if you get a MediaPlan.

AT&T is getting a chrome red V3xx and a bubble pink V3xx in August too, August 14, I think? And the V8 will follow within two weeks after those.

V8 will be released in Hong Kong within two weeks.

I thought the V8 and the V9m were the 12mm ones, with the V9 at 14-15mm?

I am with you Alex. Tmobile is sitting there with the same offerings it had last year. I have a contract with them, but I am going to break it. It is definitely worth $200 to get out of. I don’t think they will be around long anyway

Either way it’s still thin enough for me. Can’t wait for this to hit. Just wish the price was lower…$299 seems pretty expensive.

got to play with this phone recently. it’s pretty nice. design is tight and the screens are huge, vibrant, and as close to perfect as we’ve seen yet. it’s a little on the heavy side.

Im wanting one, but wont get my hopes up after at&t/cingulars history. v3i-n75 both almost a year late. alot of other phones they didnt launch (krzr) untill the whole planet had them for 6 months.. So I hope its soon, and I hope im wrong, But history says im right.

one other thing, the krzr is a very female looking phone(reason I sold mine)However, cingular only launched it in blue(mostly a guys color)and still almost eight months later, they dont have another color, while verizon has 3. If they only launch this (plumb?)color I dont think alot of male buyers, will buy it. Sure there will be a zillion colors down the road.. but they better have a color for both sexes at launch or it will cost them alot of sales.

The plum color does not make it a girls phone. Pink or red absolutely a girls phone.

What is the difference between the Synergy and JUIX UIs?

    Is it:
    V9 - Synergy, HSDPA
    V8 - JUIX, EDGE

If so…it seems like a strange combination.

I have heard it is released 3rd quarter 2007 (J-A-S).

About 300-450 $ with new 2 year contract.

And that the AT&T version, depending on what Verizon may change, will have a Linux OS.

Looking at this raises several questions in my mind.
    1. What’s with the bright blue/green Motorola logo on the back of the phone?
    2. On the front of the phone, there is a purple ‘part’, for lack of better word, on the inside of the flip.
    3. The Cingular icon, the orange figure, is on the phone, AT&T took over. What will happen with that?
    4. The key pad is curved again, when other images show it being straight across each row.
    - ??

    Is this the V8, V9, or V9m?

I think you’ll see Motorola pushing the new phone release timing. Motorola is hurting big time since the KRZR flopped, and with iPhone stealing the thunder, Motorola is the one pushing for early release. ATT is Motorola’s bread and butter in the USA, so Motorola surely has pressured ATT to offer the RAZR2 fast. My guess is APPLE has some kind of 30 day exclusive marketing window for the iPhone, afterwhich Motorola’s will start flooding into the ATT market.
