We know, we know. iPhone news is sooo last week. Even the most synical of you must admit, however, that 500,000 cell phones in roughly 48 hours is a darn impressive feat. Piper Jaffray, reputable analysts that they are, estimate that Apple pushed roughly half a million iPhones between 6:00 PM Friday, and 6:00 PM Sunday. Most companys wouldn’t dream of doing that kind of business in an entire quarter, let alone a single weekend. However the chips fall, Apple deserves some kudos for actually pulling this thing off.

Dude blackberry data plans are way to $$$ if you do the #s iphone is a great deal, its like buying a morotola Q from verizon for $99 bucks and with just $80 for united data a month for 2year plus your voice plan, thats a real rip off

Doyouflip* I agree maybe it will raise the bar on what we expect our phones to do.
I’d put down a grand+ for a phone with wi-fi, 5MP camera, video camera, expandable memory, streaming ability, touch screen, GPS, ability to view flash sites of all kinds, lightweight, with a landscape qwerty keyboard as suggested prior to the iphone launch on several websites, instant messaging, ability to be sync’d to my car stereo for music purposes, and most of all had a plethora of 3rd party games/apps with a screen/processor good enough to support gaming.
If a phone could support counterstrike….

I have to tell you BG, I used the iPhone in the AT&T store today and I have to say the entire phone is a piece of shit. It is slow, unresponive, that virtual (shit pad) keyboard sucks, and the applications are really bad but EDGE on it is surprisingly fast. the only part of it that is good and I would get is the iPod on it. That iPod is absolutely GENIUS!!(Boy Genius), that iPod is the reason to get the iPhone and if APPLE doesn’t make that into a real iPod they will be the dumbest company on the face of the earth. That is something even I would camp out in front of my local APPLE Store (at the Stoneridge mall of course) to get the day it comes out.
Props to APPLE for making it that damn good.
Jeff Out.
P.S. That camera is shit.

jeff you dont know what your talking about, dude the only thing that sucks on it its EDGE its slow as a rock,i have the iphone and a cingular 8525 which is pretty much state of the art too, but dude you can’t compare them, the 8525 is 3G and when i go to manhattan NYC the internet Flies but no way in hell you can search the web like the iphone, or look at your mail, like in the iphone, the ipod feature is nice but i rather stream music videos from youtube, try doing that on a regular so call smart phone, one cool feature it has is, even if you type the wrong word it will corect it self, dude thats what you can call smart, not to mention what a sweet calling plans it has with unlimited data

mikeyp said (twice): Its a phone, get over it.
Indeed. And yet, you continue to seem awfully defensive about my supposed defensiveness…perhaps you need to follow your own advice?
Anyhoo, I had an iPhone in hand for a few minutes yesterday, and I must say it is a gorgeous piece of hardware. Very slick, easy to use, just doesn’t do what I need it to do, and costs a lot for what it does do.

rrebo, my responses were in jest as you kept up with the same arguements with bad expamples. I will not change my stance on the benefits of trophy wives and ferrari’s because they are just cool and if you have the ability to get them, then get them.
