Google threatens to pull Gmail from Germany

Dubbed a complement to its anti-terrorist measures, Germany is proposing an end to all anonymous e-mail. Should they do that, Google has said they will pull their Gmail from the country. Currently, users can sign up anonymously for its Google Mail (dubbed that because Gmail is copyrighted in Germany). This new proposed set of laws would eliminate anonymous e-mail, to which Google responds, "nuh-uh." They claim it violates the preservation of privacy that current Gmail users enjoy. Wait…isn’t Google the same company in its own legal battle claiming they should reduce the time in which they keep a consumer’s personal data, which is currently 2 years? Shhhhh…

First they remove anonymous email “because of the terrorists,” next thing you know, the next government has a guy who’s a really good orator and they put all the jews into concentration camps.

Germany has been down the totalitarian route once, I guess history does repeat itself.

Leo-you can text anonymously–been able to for years. You just have to either email the number@carriername.com or go to their carrier’s website and txt for there…. And if you do the latter you can even spoof a number and/name!
