gahhhhh i want this phone sooooo bad. but i looked up a site that said pros and cons of it and it said this phone fits the budget of paris hilton -_- and to use all the features it would cost around $200 or more a month….. so i’m going to have to get a freaken sidekick 3 like every other person >.

Existing AT&T Customers
If you’re already an AT&T customer and want to keep your current voice plan, you can just add an iPhone Data Plan with unlimited data (email and web) and Visual Voicemail for just $20 per month.

Ok…Im not a current ATT customer. Tomorrow I goto a ATT store, grab two generic phones and start a plan (700 min, 69.99 +9.99 per additional phone.) I go back Saturday and say we dont like the phones. Grab two iPhones and add the iPhone data plan at $20 for each phone?

That doesnt make a lot of sense. So about $10 for two phones, voice service, unlimited data plan, and Visual Voicemail.

Did I read that right?

Umm…Forget the Iplan cost, I use Cingular now and I pay only 19.99 just add that unlimited package to your plan via the internet not through the retailer, and do it first with your old phone then throw the sim in your Ipod, that way you get unlimited data and 200 texts for only 19.99. Just a thought.

Well I think that those number sound to uneven, 34.99 and 44.99? maybe more like 35.99 and 45.99, I heard from someone who slept withsomeone that knows someone that works at AT&T that it will be a bundle package, letting you choose between the new AT&T unity minutes plus data pack, or AT&T Rollover plus data, one starting at 69.99 all the way upto 120.00+

I’m definitely on the fence with the iPhone…I love Apple products and have all Macs at home and at work.

BUT…I currently have a Palm Treo 700p on a Sprint family plan with two phones, (one phone for me, one for my wife) and Sprint’s unlimited Powervision data plan is only $15.00 per month per phone. So we both get unlimited internet, data, SMS, and video streaming for $30.00! Our total monthly Sprint Family Plan bill is less than $100.

The Treo 700p already has a touchscreen, SD card slot, Bluetooth for data transfer or BT headphones, Web browser, internet radio, RSS news, Google maps, Weather app, camera, camcorder, photo viewer, MP3 player, custom MP3 ringtones, voice-dial capability, “push” email for multiple accounts, calendar, viewer & EDITOR for Word/Excel documents, PDF viewer, free Sprint TV channels, video player for MP4 movie files, AND HAS SLINGPLAYER LIVE VIDEO STREAMING FROM MY COMCAST DVR!

Sprint’s EVDO service is very fast, consistent and has great coverage wherever I need it.

While iPhone’s feature set is robust, it still doesn’t have all the Treo capabilities I currently use. Also, I’m not sure I want to be touching a phone’s screen ALL THE TIME–requires continuous cleaning–imagine using the phone after eating pizza or other greasy food! I can operate the Treo with one thumb and the 5-way navigator and keyboard. And, I don’t want to constantly have to wear those annoying white iPod earbuds!

The iPhone sure is pretty and I could get one Friday if I wanted, but the monthly cost for just ONE iPhone with phone, data, taxes & AT&T surcharges would be about equal to my SprintFamily Plan.

I may wait until the launch hype fades and my Sprint contract expires in a little over a year, and until iPhone 2.0 can run SlingPlayer!

Like I said, I’m still on the fence, but I don’t have to make a choice right away..happy with the Treo 700p for now.

Apple just posted the rate plans this morning. That should dispel any rumors that were floating around about the ridiculously overpriced ‘iPlans’ that vexed the public yesterday.

A note to business customers…anyone with an account under a tax id will not be able to purchase the iPhone for an undetermined amount of time. It will either have to be switched into a personal account under your social or start up a new seperate one….

It would be nice if their Media Net 200 package would work with the iPhone. The cost of that one is only $19.95 with unlimited data.

From my experience Cingular has excellent data coverage. On a recent trip from So Cal to Colorado we were able to surf the web the majority of the time while traveling on the Interstate highways.

Ahhh, I have a $29.00 phone from Verizon, the basic plan is $39.99 a month, but my bill every month is around $60.00. What’s the difference? You may be old and that’s fine, but many “young” people today don’t even have a house phone, so to pay $80 a month is no big deal. My wife has a Treo her office gave her and she hates it. Get with the times.

What T-Mobile are you subscribed to?
–Sidekick is still only $20/month
–Blackberry data is 19.99 for internet/POP email or 29.98 for Enterprise Server access for corporate
–T-Mobile Total Internet (i.e. windows mobile phones or using a non-blackberry handset as a modem) is 29.99. That’s the only one that’s 29.99. (39.98 for corporate email access.. basically an extra 9.99 just like the blackberry)

@Everyone else:
Forgive me for being skeptical, but just because someone says “yep, I’ve really played with one” on a website that doesn’t even require registration for authentication automatically means they have insider information? I’ll go more with Boy Genius. In fact, given the reports, I’ll go on record saying this: There will be 2 data plans. 34.99/month which includes the 2000 text messages, and 44.99/month which includes the unlimited. (It’s the only thing that makes logical sense on why there would be a range and discrepency on how many texts)

OK…I gotta call BS on Boy Genius’ story.

For some reason, while he is readint hese comments, he isn’t responding to my post. But he is emailing me this comment:
“I won’t take you up on your offer because what has been said to me is different.”

I responded:
“Ummm…that doesn’t even make sense. If your information came from a “pretty high up source of ours, and it looks to be accurate” why aren’t you willing to stand behind it? I stand behind my source.”

For some reason, the Boy Genius doesn’t have faith in whoever told him AT&T would have a data plan of “between $34.99-$44.99″.

Sorry but if you claim to be “one of the most reliable and defacto sources in the underground market” you should be willing to back it up, shouldn’t you?

Tell you what, BG. I’ll make it even more interesting – $500 says my source is right and yours is wrong. Do we have a deal?

When Apple finds a chipset that doesn’t suck the battery dry *way* too fast (as the present 3G chipsets do) they will certainly look towards moving to 3G. It’s a logical step.
