How much is T9 worth? Apparently $265M

Nuance, a company known mostly for the fact that it’s been buying up technology lately, has just purchased the company (Tegic) behind T9 Predictive Text from Time Warner, to the tune of $265 Million. Amongst the companies other recent purchasers are VoiceSignal, BeVocal, and Dictaphone…all within the last year. No word yet on what exactly Nuance is planning to do with the technology, though it seems like it would be silly to change it. Those that don’t rock full keyboards or some other proprietary typing system like SureType would be lost without it.

I liked t9 and never thought it was such a big deal. Now that Nuance has it I will only see it as a software update. Fun times.

I really really love t9. It is hard using at first but once you get used to it its a life saver when trying long emails and text messages. I think t9 is worth 256 million. Espically since its on almost every phone made. I wouldn’t be suprised if it was worth much more then that.
