Deal of the week: Amazon offering Curve for $49

Yeah, that Curve. Amazon.com currently has the BlackBerry 8300 listed for $49 out the door, with no messy mail in rebates to deal with. This is a darn good deal for one of the most desired, and competent devices on the market, and should serve a small consolation prize to our faithful readers who weren’t lucky enough to snag one in our recent contest. Keep in mind, however, that the price includes a $250 conditional equipment discount. If you break the terms of service within 181 days you will be subject to the $250 Amazon charge in addition to any AT&T ETF’s. The good news? AT&T corporate stores can usually be persuaded to match Amazon’s online pricing if you happen to be signing up for a new line of service. Just remember to ask nicely.

Amazon just updated the deal again this morning. Now there’s a $75 Amazon rebate on the phone, so the total cost has changed from $49.99 to -$25.01!

Pretty weird. I wonder why AT&T is pushing the Curve so hard?

With the rebate, according to amazon’s site, you get $25 dollars back for the phone. Even more interesting, they’ll give you back $75 to take a Blackjack off their hands!

AT&T is clearing the decks (decks of inventory that is) in advance of June 29.

It’s a heckuva deal actually, esp. the Blackjack. Use it for 6 months until the equipment subsidy goes away, then just put it on the cell swapping site and get something new. There are going to be SO many new phones coming out 2nd half of this year, pretty good deal if you need one now.

Don’t forget that there is also a $75 rebate in addition to the sweet $49 pricing. So, does that mean we can get a Curve for free?

Two things. BG you need to check the system I got several comments from this post without ever posting on it before this instant. And Two I would be careful with this deal it will also require a new number a number change (or port) is concidered a big adjustments (at least when I got my old 2125) so make sure that any plans you might have include a new number.

If you have recently purchased the device which most of have you can simply call them and ask them to match the amazon price and they will credit your account. I bought my phone in a att store at $299+tax then I can send in the $100 mail in rebate. They credited my account $150 and I still need to send in the $100 rebate. All you have to do ask. Hope this post helps save you guys a few dollars. Hurry no telling how long this deal will last.

That’s a cool deal but I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a 2 year agreement. I rather go one year and get newer phones much faster.

Apple will have a second revision of the iPhone by September so I think I may just wait until than to buy it.

No love so far from corporate. Tried both the 800 number and my local corporate store in Santa Cruz, CA. They cannot match the price, the local store stated that since it was Amazon it was being sold by a 3rd party carrier hence the $250.00 cancellation fee on top of the $175 AT&T fee. I have existing service and trying to port over another phone from Verizon.

Dang it, no love. BG, anyone help!!! I need another Curve!

The deal applies to the Pearl (RED/BLACK) and the 8800 as well. The 8800 is the same price as the 8300. And the 8100 will get you an additional $50 back in rebates.

I have a question since I don’t want a plan just the phone.

If I can get AT&T retail store to match the $49.99 price and pay the EFT of $175, would I need to pay for one month of service if I cancel the next day?

    Anyone know how it works?

    @Leo not really.

If you look it says: (5) not use this line of service to replace an existing account with AT&T. If these conditions are not met, you hereby authorize Amazon.com to charge your credit card $250 as reimbursement of this equipment discount without need for further approval.

So then I don’t think you will not be keeping you number.
