Deal of the week: Amazon offering Curve for $49

Yeah, that Curve. Amazon.com currently has the BlackBerry 8300 listed for $49 out the door, with no messy mail in rebates to deal with. This is a darn good deal for one of the most desired, and competent devices on the market, and should serve a small consolation prize to our faithful readers who weren’t lucky enough to snag one in our recent contest. Keep in mind, however, that the price includes a $250 conditional equipment discount. If you break the terms of service within 181 days you will be subject to the $250 Amazon charge in addition to any AT&T ETF’s. The good news? AT&T corporate stores can usually be persuaded to match Amazon’s online pricing if you happen to be signing up for a new line of service. Just remember to ask nicely.

Just interested but with all this talk of changing plans, buying new phones, how much do all of you actually spend on upgrading, activating and dealing with all the expenses like activation or cancellation fees trying to switch companies or upgrade?

I know I’m a pushover for the latest gizmo, but I definately feel I am a lightweight, lol!

I also saw my hair go grey when I tried to get our family plan set straight with 5 phones through Sprint last Dec.

I still get chills whenever I have to call customer service. YIKES!
