BG’s Corner: Playboy getting into the cell phone business?

No, we’re not kidding. We’ve been told Playboy Enterprises, (yeah, that Playboy) is in the process of talking to handset manufacturers to try and come up with a cell phone. Rumored companies have been Motorola, Siemens, and LG. What exactly is it going to look like? Well, they’re going for a "high gloss, upscale" phone. Bluetooth, camera, and MP3 player should all make their way into the final product. We’ve also heard it would be a GSM phone, but have heard no carriers have jumped aboard just yet to offer it. Soon as more information hits, we’ll update you!
I don’t think any carriers will jump on board because of parents thinking its going to influence and all b/s like that. I think they should just sell the phone unlocked and people can use it on whatever gsm network.

So as coldcc said let the user buy the phone and provide content via a website that way the adult buyer can get what he or she wants from the site or device. I think it will be more of a novelty phone than anything else.

yeah definitely go the unlocked route because carriers will probably be too afraid, also I need a lot of chicks buying this phone if it is hot not too many dudes!

If it would get the z6 (as pictured) launched then ok. 2007 is half over and you cant buy a single 2007 moto anywhere..shipp the damn phones moto!!!

Moto has been humiliated and humbled in the last 12 mos. Such a shame, as it’s ever-obvious what it is people want. CEO Zander’s in trouble. If things don’t levitate fast, he won’t last the year.
And this Playboy concept? Is Playboy even a merchantable “designer” brand? If Playboy wants to “play,” it oughtta buy Amp’d out of bankruptcy.

well i think it will be good for playboy companies to do it because it will show other companies that they are a serious company and they do mean business, not just business in pornography yu know..well thats my thought

playboy has come out with a phone, and you can use it with at&t sim cards. its on playboystore.com in silver gold or pink. cute little phone and of course its expensive.
