Why does some webpages come up blank? Is it because page requires flash? Fairly new to om, got the 4.2 v for mobile. Thanks.

I have been almost obsessed with giving my bb curve 8310 the most comparable functionality to an iphone as possible (because I believe my device is much more capable than the native features may suggest). Opera mini is the absolute most sucessful program at helping me accomplish this (I’m using it right now). The pages load quickly and perfectly, and every time I show it to someone they say “hey! That looks just like safaari” I say “yep…it does”

I installed the “beta version of Opera mini 4″. It does not support flashlite player. Which mobile browser can support flashcontent play?. I am not happy with this version…

Ok I’m lost..

Now Im referring to updating opera 3 to 4.

My friend and I both updated. He did his over the air and I downloaded the file from the website. We both have the exact same phone and had version 3. That phone being a 8700c blackberry. His updated and and put the icon on his desktop on my phone. Then he clicked on it and then updated. I used the desktop manager and it does not show it. As a matter of fact, every time I open up the desktop manager and go to application loader it keeps showing it with a “install” option like its has never been installed. I’ve tried rebooting it several times and nothing.

Help?

@kirk What browser what device are you using that has that support? I know of none what specs, don’t just leave it there.

I posted about this yesterday, and I believe this is revolutionary. This is bigger than the iPhone. Why? Because there’s over a billion people using cellphones that support Java, and have been confined to WAP pages. Now they get the full desktop browsing experience, instantly, for free.

Oh and about the Flash comments, I think the issue is with Adobe. It’s been said many times that support is coming but all they have so far is Flash Lite which doesn’t support online apps so no phone can play Flash based videos and such.

If the include flash support at some point we will be ok. Not too interested in it otherwise. I will wait for beta to be done.

This version of the BETA is for Palm or RIM devices, not WinMo. That’s probably why you are seeing issues with it. I’ve been using it since this morning on my Pearl and it works great. I do this the all and mighty “Safari” browser for the iPhone will have something to worry about since Opera mini is free, handles across platforms, and doesn’t require you to spend at least $500 and be locked into a 2 year agreement just to use it… Once the BETA version has all its quirks worked out, I think this new offering from Opera will have some great potential.

I had some problems with installing the BlackBerry version, the ZIP file does not seem to contain all needed files.

Even with this new release the question remains if one should use a browserbased solution, such as Opera Mini (which requires download and installation), or a webbased solution, such as google’s browser, mowser.com or recently released baresite.com. I find the webbased solutions faster and easier, but the problem with them is that one always has to go to them first in order to start browsing. So for now I’ll test opera mini, but i wonder when i’ll go back to a webbased one.

I installed on my Blackjack and because of the Java problems on the phone, the application asked to connect every time I wanted to exchange data with the net. I doubt that the iPhone has anything to fear. I have always considered Opera phone browsers a novelty. They never quite works right, so I always uninstall them with every new revision that comes out
