Motorola Q9m (Nelson) Hands On!
Yeah, you’re probably looking at the first live shots of the new Motorola Q9m for Verizon Wireless, and ain’t it a beauty? The Q9m uses a regular miniUSB port instead of Motorola’s new favorite microUSB, which makes charging and connecting a lot easier. The Q9m also looks like it supports miniSD cards for memory expansion, and has a nice red glow around the d-pad. This Q9M brings back the scroll wheel that the GSM Q9 lacked. Another Verizon customization was the home screen. It displays shortcuts for commonly used applications like the camera, messaging, web, music in a circular pattern on the screen. The icons in Windows Mobile are completely customized, and look for VCast music support on here as well. The QWERTY keyboard is fantastic just like the other Q9 we previewed, and the device actually has a metallic plastic on the front, and a black rubberized back. It feels good in your hands, and doesn’t seem like you would drop it easily. It’s a tad bit thicker than the GSM Q9 but that is understandable seeing as how miniSD cards are supported, but the camera appears to be only 1.3 megapixels. We’re gonna’ give the Motorola Q9m 3.5 BGs. Want more? Click on over to our exclusive gallery below!

Verizon Wireless is a Joke first they pass up the I-phone then they come up with this ugly phone saying its the I-phone killer!!!!! are they serious????? They have no clue to what people want! All they care about is the bottom dollar! I don’t know…. sooner or later everyone will have the best network, what will verizon do at that point??????? MY question to verizon when they get new phone is does it run Os X…..if not you have a serious problem. this is no way an I-phone killer, try harder guys!!

I think that this phone looks fantastic! I had the old Q and returned it because I found it to be very sluggish (just like the verizon razr) with almost everything I used it for. Hopefully this phone fixes that though.

did someone say something about the curve, coming to verizon?

boygenius, any side shots? based on what i can see from the front and back, AND the fact that the display is *again* off-center, i would not be surprised if it is true that the hw inside is exactly the same as the original — moto merely slapped on a q9 looking housing to the original q, installed wm6 and calls it the q9m. this is soooooooooo moto — color the razr pink and try to tell the whole world its a different phone from the black razr. who are they kidding?

Where did VZW say THIS is the iPhone killer?
Please educate yourself before you post, you sound like an idiot with nothing more than an anti-VZW crusade. Don’t like them? Fine, go with someone else and be merry.

Are there any updates on when Q9M will be available on Verizon?

As of 8/1/07 9:00 PM CST, VZW call center had no info on availability. The collection of “small improvements” in WM6.0 make it worthwhile for me. Any news?

Dude, OS x? OS X sucks so does the iphone. You get all wraped up in that apple marketing campaign and are fool enough to buy anything they come out with. Get over it, IPHONES SUCKS, OSX SUCKS AND APPLE SUCKS….

I got one today and I love it… I had the original “Q” and a lot of the features that I wish that it has the Q9m has it which makes me really happy. the Buttons are a lot easier to press. the photo icons are bigger and it has Mobile 6.0 which lets me edit documents… and the PDF files are easier to view thought.

Yo the motorola q9m works fine. Tends to jump to different apps on a whim and accessing web sites is slowww considering it’s a broadband phone.
Gets hung up when connecting to web sites but overall it is a pretty good phone

Worst phone ever made. Slower than a pack of grannies with broken hips, even the simplest of functions such as the calculator take over a minute to complete. trying to make a phone call, i type in the first number and that alone takes 30-40 seconds to even appear on the screen.
The entire reason the device was created, to call another telephone, barely even works half the time. i type in a number, press the green send button, and it just looks at me like a confused three year old with a particle physics textbook, “what am i supposed to do with this?!”
Texting, oh boy. every single text i send frustrates me eve more. after the first few characters, the rest of the characters disappear into “motorola fairy land” and by that i mean i’m typing them, and they are there, i just can’t see them anymore. (motor ) see, annoying isn’t it?
I’ve been told to go to motorola or verizon’s tech support, which i have. both of which told me that the phone is operating just fine and nothing is wrong with it. so apparently motorola has sought to create a phone who’s sole purpose is to breed a level of anger never seen by man, one capable of tearing the universe in half. they have succeeded, hold on everyone, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.
if you’re looking to buy this phone or anything else made my motorola, do yourself a favor, RUN. run as fast as you can and as far as you can. when you think you can’t run anymore, when you think your legs are gonna fall off and your lungs are going to jump out of your chest, run 10 more feet. hopefully you will find yourself in the happy and gleeful lands of LG or Blackberry.
