RIM confirms device issue with TELUS 8830; Shipment and launch delayed

TELUS and Bell Canada subscribing BlackBerry addicts might be in a for a bit of disappointment here. The BlackBerry 8830 World Phone was supposed to be formally announced yesterday, with a projected ship date of June 22nd. Due to "unknown issues," however, the device launch and ship date have been pushed back indefinitely. While we don’t know exactly why RIM has recalled the device, we do that it is a RIM issue, not a carrier problem, and that all devices have been recalled pending a fix. TELUS is still hoping for a launch announcement by the end of June, but given the ambiguity and scope of the issue(s), we have our doubts that they will be able to pull that off. Is it just us, or is RIM having more than its fair share of issues with the BlackBerry 8830? First Verizon, then Sprint, now this? I guess it wasn’t as easy as Mike said, to "port GSM models over to CDMA". Come on, guys!
Thanks, Trever!

My 8830 has a wierd quirk. It does a sort of auto-correct on area codes when dialing, removing any leading 0. Problem is – in some places – like Italy – you need the zero or the call doesn’t go through! Anyone else seen this? Any fix?
I am having a problem with the phone sticking in the conference mode if someone happens to call me while I tried to make a call at the same time. Is there a way to correct this problem?
My wife and I both have the 8830 and this happens to us all the time. The only way we can “unfreeze” the phone is by taking out the battery and putting it back in.
Blackberry—help???!!
I’ve just gotten my blackberry, and my media manager won’t do anything at all. I was going to take it back to verizon. Can anyone help I’ve got the bb8830 world edition
I am convinced Blackberry should have recalled this thing. The replace to arrive tomorrow morning will be my fifth 8830 since May 08. I can’t stand it.
To make matters worse, I have tried a few different Verizon stores, trying to find technician who can troubleshoot a PDA and none can, even though they say they can. If one more person says “Wow, that IS weird ….” I’m going to snap.
