this is true but it will cost you 60$ to do it that way cause you opened the iphone curve don’t know but the iphone for sure

@InsiderBob, analysts are saying that if Apple sells only 100,000 iPhones this weekend, the launch will be considered a failure. There are only about about 160 Apple stores in the U.S., and less than 1900 AT&T-owned stores, and not all of the latter are going to be carrying the iPhone. If what you’re saying about 4-5 phones per store is true, they’ll only sell about 10,000 of them; there’s no way they’d allow that to happen.

What’s pissing me off is the fact that a lot of the AT&T stores and employees apparently do have iPhone wait lists even though they aren’t supposed to. Not that it’s a surprise, it’s just annoying, and it’ll suck for anyone who “played fair” and camped out.

Actually im not sure if all stores will have cops present but my friend at the store where i will be going has already confirmed to me that they have already hired cops to be present at 6pm on the 29th!

Don’t get too excited. The stores are getting ready as described. But they’re only going to have 4 or 5 iPhones each! They’re too afraid of theft among other things. So instead they’re going to piss off thousands of potential customers. Mark my word.

Since it won’t be a morning launch I will swing by around 7AM and see if anyone camped out. If I see even a few people I get in line right then; if nobody is there then I’ll plan on a noon arrival.

I’d be bummed if when I show up at 7AM there are a mass of campers. Not only would it mean waiting the full 11 hours, but I’d have to face the reality that other people were more dedicated than me!

I may have to buy one, just to get it out of my system and play with it! Keeping it will depend on how good the virtual keyboard is. I still don’t know if it will be enough to keep my Curve in the draw. Ahh the fun of new gadgets hittin.

Not really, but no one knows exactly how many phones we’re gonna get, or how many people are going to show up. Everyone remembers what happened during the PS2 and xbox launches. Hopefully that will be avoided. AT&T has never really had this kind of hype for a phone launch before.

We’ve already contacted the police dept (as have most stores in our area) about having at least one officer present. They told us they wouldn’t mind having one there just in case. Better safe then sorry.

Well my local AT&T Company store, is located inside the local Giant supermarket. They may shoo away potential customers, but they can not stop someone from walking up to the counter/display case taking a look. You have to walk past the AT&T Company store [they make a big point to say they are a COMPANY STORE] after you check out your own groceries.

I really feel sorry for the people who dont like the phone because there is a restocking fee of 10% if u return the phone. I guess another way to make sure u keep the phone

Over at Appleinsider, it says Fed Ex will be delivering the phones between 430 and 6. The stores will also be setting up the iPhone displays during that time…

Plus, it’ll let the media be at the stores to boost the media coverage.

The cops will be there too for crowd control…

Ohh a little tip to Curve owners. Since you hopefully purchased the curve the first day you can bring home the iphone for a day, try it out, then if you don’t like it bring it back or the curve back depending if you like it.

Has anyone heard or thought of that this June 29th version 1.0 [2.5 G] launch could lay the ground work for a version 2.0 [3 G] post- Thanksgiving launch on Friday, Nov. 23d?? And would someone wait 5 months…?
