YouTube to test Video Fingerprinting

 

Finally making headway in the fight against copyright no-nos, GooTube is in the midst of rolling out video fingerprinting software, and using major media contributors Disney and Time Warner to test it. Looking to avoid lawsuits of the billion dollar variety, such as the current Viacom suit, YouTube has stepped up their game in recent weeks. They’ve had an auditory version of this fingerprinting software already in place, allowing copyrighted songs to be identified and removed. With this new video version in the works, major corporations will be able to crack down on their content being used without permission. YouTube CEO Chad Hurley has said the company intends to make the fingerprinting technology available to all content owners in the fall.

    This will be fun if it turns out to be like the new flicker sensoring software. I would to see companies pull foreign tv because they are going or showing the same program. Anime friends look to see that happen even more.
