Verizon partners with Good to offer spam killer

Verizon broadband customers will soon have another weapon in the global fight against terror email spam. The company’s ISP division will be offering "CertifiedEmail" to combat phishing scams, as well as tradition spam messages. The service has been developed in conjunction with enterprise email provider Good. The system essentially identifies mail that originates from known commercial volume spammers, flags it, and quarantines it. The list of known spammers/phishers is continuously updated, providing a relatively up to date database of potential problem messages. Who knows how well this will ultimately work, but it’s nice to see an ISP partnering with an established 3rd party to try and address what can only be described as an epidemic of nefarious email.

Nice now if I ever go on Verizon for DSL I will know that they are doing their best to keep me away from those penis enlarging pill and any other possible advancement in my sexual life. It would be nice to see this work and not filter out the other more common emails, like my families or friends.

@eJay sorry to burst your ranting bubble but that might be your own fault. I have Google tied to my BB and all I get is my email. No spam, or any other kind of undesired email. You should check your mail and see what accounts you have that are letting the spam through. The spam filter for google is pretty goof as well for hotmail, I don’t use yahoo as much so really can’t say.But check as I said the spam for the emails themselves.

FYI – Goodmail (the anti-spam provider) is the partner company cited in the announcement, not Good Technologies (email middleware).
