Is 3,000,000 the number?
Simply adding to the already crazy hype surrounding the Apple iPhone (C’mon…people who don’t care anything about phones know of the iPhone’s impending release), it’s now being speculated that not only will iPhone be lauched all stocked up, but the rumors are circulating that the number shipped could be 3 million. To put that in perspective…that’s twice the number of launch consoles shipped by Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft COMBINED at the introduction of their respective NexGen consoles. According to Business Week’s Peter Burrows, it’s all speculation at this point. The irony? No one will give Apple credit if they are stocked full of iPhones at launch. But, you better believe that the criticism will run wild if they’re under-supplied, yes?

What is the status on (1) Pay-go offering with AT&T. Do people have to pay full price for the phone? (2) A lower end more affordable iphone. When will this be offered?

No prepaid with the iPhone. At least not this version….
Who wouldwant to get prepaid w/ this phone anyway? You wouldn’t have access to over half the features in the phone…

Do you think they would finish more than 3,000,000 just in US…I think they won’t be able to do 10 - 12 in Europe because by then there should be something similar to hit the market,,,although not the Chinese ones…Gudd stuff

While i would be glad that i wont have to worry about getting an iPhone on launch day, the press will spin it as “iPhones are just sitting on the shelves…” like they did (and do) for the PS3. However if they have a launch like Nintendo (where it is STILL hard to get ahold of one) it becomes more of a prized posession, and someone will be more inclined to buy it “becase there is one in stock”. Thats why i bought my Wii… i kinda wanted it, but since there were only 2 on the shelf, i bought one (now it collects dust, BTW).
So Sure, it would be nice to just walk in on launch day and get an iPhone, it will just result in poor press if there isnt some sort of shortage to meet demand…

heh, I can’t wait to see all the complaints rollin in about cracked screens and all the chix rubbin their makeup on it and greasy nerd facial juice all over it. take it from me, its bad enough on the current big face phones!

If i remember right, you have to hold ALL cellphones up to your ear. Hell the iPhone is SMALLER than some of them. I think someone is just a bit irritated that they cant afford an iPhone (or mommy said no).
