Beatnik gives MP3 junkies 10x more compression

Most people probably don’t use their mobile phones before June 29 to hunt for MP3s, but as devices get more consolidated, and more people start using them to replace their other products, something like Beatnik will come in rather handy. They claim that they have devised a way to compress audio files up to ten times more than traditional MP3s. Just jcray said will sound quality be affected? What about recognition from older devices? Will it be the same format just higher compression?

compression is cool, but what about extra requirements? Do we need extra installation of new codecs?
