HTC Touch announced

What used to be called the HTC Elf, now has been officially renamed to the HTC Touch. Why call it the HTC Touch, you ask? Because it’s multi-touch? Never. It just has a new interface loaded on top of Windows Mobile 6 which is called TouchFLO. The purpose of TouchFLO is that the software can tell if you’re using a finger or stylus on the screen. If you’re using your finger, a nifty "three-dimensional" interface of media, applications, and contacts will activate. Yeah, we’re serious. Hard specs are: tri-band GSM/EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel camera, 2.8-inch screen, 128MB of ROM, 64MB of RAM in a pretty small package. It’s available in two color choices of Wasabi, and soft black and available in the UK starting now. I personally applaud HTC for their efforts here, but to make all that hoopla over launching this? Well, maybe they were classy about it and we were the ones who blew it out of proportion and expected it to be a Jesus phone competitor. Yeah, I think that’s what happened.

Thanks, to everyone that sent this in!

Where is the Kaiser? I am seriously considering putting my years of faith in blackberry for this device. Just seems too fully loaded to passup (Wi-Fi, GPS, Direct Push email, etc, etc…). Plus i hear great things about Windows Mobile 6. Any opinions?

David – It’s really no different then any other non-keyboard toting pda. It has all the regular features such as hand writing recognition, onscreen keyboard and etc. All it is just nice software really and smaller form factor. To be honest if the UI isnt hardcoded into the OS then I wouldnt be surprised if someone rips it out from the Ext_rom or something and packages it for other devices. One can only hope :)

There is supposed to be plenty of supply so I would not worry. But this HTC phone is very nice. Just not a big fan of windows on anything. CDMA will always lag GSM. I have that cdma gsm problem also. Probably why I get the best discounts from those providers lol!

surur-Yes! I have a brain. LG Prada come out a little after the keynote for the iphone. Which I feel/know was rushed by LG to play catch-up with the iphone. What we/you got is a half-assed (look that word up)phone/product. Read the reviews!

Sweet! An overseas iPhone fanboy! I think this is the first time I’ve seen one post…from the UK no less…

Everyone gather around and take a look, but take care, they tend to spit when the iPhone is frowned upon…

Honestly, how do you know that the iPhone will be any better? Have you tested one? Has your customers tested them in the real world? Come on now, don’t be shy, if you got some information spill it. Be a iPhone fanboy hero.

The LG prada was announced 4 weeks before the iphone, and the design and concept a year before that. Hell, it even won a design award in september.
“Woo-Young Kwak, head of LG Mobile Handset R&D Center, said at a press conference, “We consider that Apple copied Prada phone after the design was unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006. We take that to mean ‘Apple stole our idea’.”

So no, Lg didn’t copy the iphone.

Haha, I like how you did not read my post. It’s good to see that oversea’s fanboys read about as well as the domestic ones.

I didn’t say that the Prada was good. If you read my post, I said “how do you know that the iPhone will be any better? Have you tested one?”

Well, have you? Have you tested an iPhone verses the Prada? I bet you haven’t even touched a Prada. Have you even seen a review of an iPhone yet? How dow you know that the iPhone won’t have the same shortcomings as the Prada? Oh, that’s right, you don’t. Again, wait until an ACTUAL hands on review before you claim that something is better.

The HTC Touch was in development long before the IPHONE. Get your facts straight!! Also, neither the IPHONE nor the LG Prada run windows mobile. Originality is hard isn’t it!! You should try harder!!
