Amp’d Mobile files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
It’s a tough time of the year for any wireless company, but the MVNO’s are really feeling the heat. The Wall Street Journal reports that Amp’d Mobile filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection late friday night. The startup company has just short of 200,000 customers members; further service details are sketchy at this time. Rest assured, we will report when we know something. I never trusted companys like this. . . guess I was right. . .
Time to take out the trash sucka…;)
Damn this is a bad sign… surprise Helio has managed to push its way to a decent yet insignificant spot. Well hope it ends well.
Nice just saw the addition of the thumbs sign. Interesting.
It seems like these MVNOs are going under in order. First it was ESPN Mobile, Amp’d is starting, I would guess Helio is next. I am suprised Helio has lasted as long as it has. The bigger “parent” companies have a much better deal going on, IMO. At least all I have have to worry about with the company that I use is their indecision to keep a name.
I cant really find a use for MVNO’s personally. I guess if you dont have credit or money they would be good, but hey if you dont have money and credit neither does the MVNO or they dont want want to spend what money if any they have left. Hey how about a Boy Genius Mobile MVNO. Id sign up for that LOL
Helio is on a whole ‘nother level than the rest of these MVNO’s and by far has much better devices, ideas, and concepts. I don’t see them going away nearly as easily as the rest…
How is it possible? They don’t have to maintain the network.. all they have to do is sign up customers and provide customer service. Any problems with the network they use fall on the owner of the network.
Virgin Mobile seems to be doing decent… what’s the difference between the two?
Virgin Mobile is owned by Sprint, and runs off the Sprint network. Just like Boost is also owned by Sprint.
12 more months on my contract. one phones dead and they won’t reactivate it. have to call tech support can’t transfer. no no no tech support. still being billed for both phones. How do I get out of their plane without paying 150 bills per phone.
