Motorola Q9 Hands on!

Yes, we definitely got our hands on the new unreleased Motorola Q9h! First off the top is the noticable improvements over the first Motorola Q (CDMA). The keyboard — just wow! The feel of the unit is great, with speaker volume and quality on par or better than pretty much any Windows Mobile 6 Standard device. Yes even that one. Signal strength doesn’t look to suffer here, as we’re picking up lunar transmissions (just kidding). Call quality is also good too when using on AT&T. It really sounds pleasant to talk to someone over this. One of the stupidest issues with the first Q, and some other smartphones, is that the camera application was never full screen. Motorola has corrected that with the new Q9h and I have to say I’m kind of diggin’ it! Check out the full gallery below!

thanks for the comparison pics. the q9 is bigger than i thought. it looks about the same size as the 8800 and that device feels big these days vs the blackjack and curve.

I wouldn’t say the Moto Q9 is huge at all. It is a bit wider than the Blackjack but a bit shorter than the blackjack. [url= http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=88282

I’ve have the Q currently w/ verizon and would like 2 try out the new q9h. Their isn’t any other phone that verizon offers that i would switch 2. Tried the Treo 700wx, takes too many steps to get where u want 2 go & the Q form factor and qwerty have a better feel 1 or 2 handed. As a stand alone phone, the Q isn’t my first choice. It’s a great tool if you have unlimited data and need to go online frequently.

why cant we get a device that does blackberry email, looks and functions like an iphone, and is compatible with slingbox..and fits in my pocket - preferably with verizon…

The reason would be VERIZON itself (a.k.a. the most detestable company in America). They would never make a phone like that. It would require that they open up their phones and let them do what their manufacturers intended them to. This is a no-no at Verizon, where they f***-up their phones with their ugly, clumsy, and slow user-interface. All so that their poorly-trained tech support staff has to know only one menu.

Interesting how the Q9 GMS and Q9M have very different keyboards. Take a look at what the secondary key options on between the two when you press the num lock. Glad I’m dumping Verizon for ATT, the Q9m is freaking ugly, no way I want to show that off, no way.

    Someone said:

“Why can’t SOMEONE just release the ultimate phone: fast processor, great camera, 3g, WiFi, and GPS.”

Try the Fujitsu-Siemens T830, Nokia N95, or one of the new HTC devices running Windows Mobile 6.0 - they have all of those features.

    Thanks,
