Palm Foleo
Remember the new Palm device we told you about yesterday?Well, a leaked press release has spilled the details. Here they are:
Palm, Inc. today announced the Palm Foleo, world’s first smartphone companion product.
Foleo has a large screen and full size keyboard to view and edit email and office documents. Edits made on Foleo automatically are reflected on its paired smartphone and vice versa.
Foleo and its paired smartphone stay synchronized throughout the day or at the touch of a button.
Foleo turns on and off instantly, features fast navigation, a compact and elegant design, and a battery that lasts up to five hours of use.
U.S. availability for Foleo begins this summer with pricing expected to be $499 after an introductory $100 rebate."Foleo is the most exciting product I have ever worked on. Smartphones will be the most prevalent personal computers on the planet, ultimately able to do everything that desktop computers can do. However, there are times when people need a large screen and full-size keyboard. As smartphones get smaller, this need increases. The Foleo completes the picture creating a mobile-computing system that sets a new standard in simplicity."

$500 for a screen and keyboard? you can get a cheapo laptop for that much.
That’s one down, two left… BENNET?
Umm..yeah.. Someone should get fired for this one.ever heard of outlook?
Most people that would benefit from this already have bes as a solution. Goodluck finding a customer base.
Hmmm, I wonder if this is set to compete with the HTC Advantage or Shift?
I do not need a companion product. That is moving backwards as far as I am concerned.
It’s already on CNET.

This seems like a nearly pointless product for most people. I hate to say that Palm is slowly sliding away. But they seem to be.
way to sink youselves closer to CHAPTER 11 palm! you guys have really come out with an innovative product there that is about to change the WORLD (dripping with sarcasm). here’s an idea for you…FIRE EVERYONE in your design division, AND marketing branch! start over, before you really sink yourselves deeper trying to push this piece of shit!
I agree with b.n: somebody is getting canned on this blunder. Everybody wants to have one device that does everything. Kaiser anyone?
That confirms that the fork has probably been stuck in Palm.
When Palm has more prevalent issues with their product line (Smartphones with an archaic, buggy Palm OS comes to mind), they come out of nowhere with this.
I see this new prodcut as being an instant flop.
Speaking of blackberry: is anyone else having web browser issues. My 8700c has been locking up and sending error messages since 1:00 a.m. last nite. I purged my content cache, cookies, and purged all deleted email from multiple accounts. She is still locking up. Any guidence would be appreciated.
The device looks nice [check out Macrumors.com], but why bother? $500.00! with the rebate, $600 without! I’d rather put it to a laptop with a mobile card from AT&T/TMO. Palm is dooooomed. Treo is a PoS too.
Damn what a waste of time. 3 years ago it might have turned more heads but now this is just a waste of R&D. Hope they wise up with the flex-displays.
How is this “the worlds first smartphone companion” when the Nokia tablets have been out for, what, almost 2 years now?
