BlackBerry Curve to be released May 31st? Whatever.

I know what everyone is thinking, "Please stop!". We do have this on sort of confirmed authority: the BlackBerry Curve will be released this Thursday, the 31st of May. It should appear in all "distribution channels", and AT&T will have their usual 90 day exclusive in the USA. By now we all know the run down — AT&T Mobile Music, 2 megapixel camera, spell checker, and AT&T’s Mall feature to buy ringtones and other downloadable content. Anyone interested in pricing? It will run ya’ $449.99 to buy it outright, $274.99 with a one year agreement, and $199.99 for a 2 year agreement with a $39.99 voice plan. That’s about it, check out the full "press release" after the jump!

Thanks, Jamie!

AT&T will launch the full-featured and much anticipated BlackBerry Curve on May 31 in all distribution channels. The BlackBerry Curve is exclusive to AT&T for at least 90 days after launch and is the smallest, lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry yet offered. The device also features a 2-megapixel camera. The Curve is the first BlackBerry to offer spell-checker for e-mail, AT&T Push-to-Talk, TeleNav Maps and the AT&T Mall feature for purchasing ring tones and downloads.
The Curve offers support for phone, BES/BIS e-mail access, text messaging, Web browser, organizer, corporate data applications and more.

I just ordered mine on my company’s Premier website and got a $100 dollars rebate for getting a voice plan and unlimited data plan (Blackberry Personal Max – unlimited data and 1500 txt msging package). I chose the overnight shipping since I can’t wait and I should be able to have this tomorrow! What a great way to start the weekend!! I can’t wait, I can’t wait…I’m so excited! :0)

I just ordered mine on my company’s Premier website. I recieved a $100 dollars rebate online since I renewed my contract with a voice plan and unlimited data. I chose the Blackberry Personal Max plan which is the perfect package for any mid-career professional who is not on their company’s BES. The package comes with 1500 txt/sms/etc messages – I txt daily and constantly, 1500 should be good enough for any one person. I also paid for the overnight shipping because I want to have it tomorrow. Stupid stores don’t have any information nor the phone.

    I can’t wait, I can’t wait! Woooooohooooooo!!!

I just tried ordering mine over the phone because the website won’t let me upgrade right now and stores don’t have it yet. The guy tried convincing me to wait for the iPhone that comes out tomorrow. Idiots.

Anyone tried to use the “Upgrade Now” link on your Cingular account – only to be met with the message “Apologize for the inconvenience, we can’t do the upgrade online, blah blah”?

I’m eligible (having had the account since 1987) and the website doesn’t function right.

    Typical.

WRB – that’s how I ordered mine. It took a couple of attemts (the website has been acting funny all day, probably because of us Curve nerds) but it worked. It will tell you if you are eligible to upgrade. In my case, I had a couple of months before my contract was up. It just recently said that I was eligible. Perfect timing for a May 31st release.

    WRB says:

Customer service verified my upgrade status – but I’ve tried about 20 times so far today to do it online (since the business dept doesn’t have Curves in inventory, nor does their website section which operates separately with separate pricing-who knew that?). So I’ll try a different computer and see if the web will function better. If they underestimate demand for this, they’ll be totally unprepared for iPhone.

If you all would have just woke up early and called AT&T and ordered it with the extra shipping cost you’d get it tomorow! why did u waste time, now you order and wont recieve yours till monday because stores are getting them either tomorrow or monday! The phone is the way to go, even if u find it you can just return it!

    Eddie Dollaz says:

You can usually find someone on ebay that sells remote unlocking codes via email. They send you instructions on how to get to the unlocking screen on a blackberry and then you input the code in and throw in your SIM card, and you’re all set. I did it twice before, once when the 7290 came out and also for the 8700c(again, 2 devices t-mobile was slow in getting to). Should run you about 30-50 bucks a code.

I currently have Sprint. No SIM :( I still have my old TMo SIM tho lol I’m undecided as to if I want to switch back now or wait until August. The Discounted Rate for The Curve is the only thing that is making me want to wait.

I’m not “krazie” Leo…I just don’t text message as much as you but I do have IM+ where I chat like a mad man so that kinda makes up for the text messaging I guess. Anywhoot, I can’t wait to hold it and most likely I will buy the skins to protect this beauty from any scratches.

Man! NO stores on Long Island have this anywhere! Believe me – I’ve claled them all…”should be a few weeks” they said!

“Released”? I don’t think so….can’t order via the Business Sales Team yet either today (”maybe tomorrow” they told me)….might as well hold a piece of candy in front of my kid’s face and keep running away when he tries to grab it!

    I’m tired…..
