I know what everyone is thinking, "Please stop!". We do have this on sort of confirmed authority: the BlackBerry Curve will be released this Thursday, the 31st of May. It should appear in all "distribution channels", and AT&T will have their usual 90 day exclusive in the USA. By now we all know the run down — AT&T Mobile Music, 2 megapixel camera, spell checker, and AT&T’s Mall feature to buy ringtones and other downloadable content. Anyone interested in pricing? It will run ya’ $449.99 to buy it outright, $274.99 with a one year agreement, and $199.99 for a 2 year agreement with a $39.99 voice plan. That’s about it, check out the full "press release" after the jump!
Thanks, Jamie!
BlackBerry Curve to Launch May 31
Exclusive to AT&T for at least 90 days after launch.
AT&T will launch the full-featured and much anticipated BlackBerry Curve on May 31 in all distribution channels. The BlackBerry Curve is exclusive to AT&T for at least 90 days after launch and is the smallest, lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry yet offered. It combines a compact design with many new features and broad international coverage.
With an exclusive, liquid silver finish and new trackball navigation system, the Curve is the first BlackBerry device to support AT&T Mobile Music, an enhanced media player, support for stereo Bluetooth headsets and a 3.5 mm headset jack. The device also features a 2-megapixel camera. The Curve is the first BlackBerry to offer spell-checker for e-mail, AT&T Push-to-Talk, TeleNav Maps and the AT&T Mall feature for purchasing ring tones and downloads.
The Curve offers support for phone, BES/BIS e-mail access, text messaging, Web browser, organizer, corporate data applications and more.
The quad-band BlackBerry Curve gives customers the ability to make phone calls in more than 190 countries and access e-mail and other data applications in 130 countries. All AT&T BlackBerry devices enjoy this advantage, giving the company the largest portfolio of BlackBerry products with global roaming capabilities of any U.S. carrier.
Special Note on Product Packaging at Launch
The BlackBerry Curve may also be identified as the BlackBerry 8300 on packaging and in-box materials for up to 30 days after launch.

I have a contact at ATT who hooks me up with info out here in San Francisco and he said he has no clue when it will be here. I sent him the press release on the rim site and he will let me know when he sees/hears anything. Its almost better he doesn’t know anything. That would be consistant with stores getting them out of the blue.

Just visited 2 corporate stores in the Indianapolis area….one didn’t know what I was talking about….the other grudgingly admitted that they had received printed marketing materials but thats all….hmmmmm….I directed them to the BGR website and RIM-ATT joint press release.

I tried SKU-sniping on Cingular’s website to see if the product page is hiding in their prod web folder…couldn’t find it. Of course, I was doing it manually, and I am still at work.

8700, then the 8800… and now announcing.. (you’d guess 8900 right?)… the 8300! seems like a step back. Now releasing the newest version of my 1.0 software…. .375!!!!

One vote for the camera. The lack thereof is why I didn’t buy my current carrier’s 8830. Also:
A.) I already have GPS in my car and rarely use it; and
B.) I have kids, and I know I’ll have more occasions to snap a pic of them doing something cool than I will find myself needing GPS.

“WHEN THE HELL IS T-MOBILE GETTING THEIR BLACKBERRY 8820. DOSE ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING… B.G.R???????????”
@Mike I know there isn’t a lot of trust here in AT&T employees, but I talked to one who confirmed the curve and said the 8820 won’t be out until around August or later…on AT&T. Take that for what it’s worth.

Also, I just attempted to go the AT&T site and it says that it is down for maintenance. Maybe they are updating it with the curve as we speak.

I called my local Cingular/ATT wireless store on 05/30/07 - Wednesday at around 7:00pm. They said that they had recieved the selling materials on the curve that very morning at 10:00am via Fed EX. Funny though, cause the Rep. said that the store only got two curves in the mail for sale. So they got the selling info and two (2) total curves, for sale, in that day via Fed EX. He went ahead and allowed me to reserve one, and I plan on picking it up at 9am when the store opens. From Houston Texas, latter.

What, my link wasn’t good enough?

It’s on the AT&T website under PDA/Smart Phones. It’s the first BB listed.
It’s only available online or in a retail store. You cannot order it from customer service. I think if you get it in a store you’ve got to deal with the rebate. Online, you get an instant discount instead of the rebate.

I’m going to have to go in-store, because I get a 50% discount on hardware through my company. Hopefully I can score 2 of these for $149@, with 2 $100 rebates! The wife looked at it this morning and decided she wants one.

Hi guys. I’ve been reading your posts here for a couple weeks now and I think you all have persuaded me to get my first Blackberry. This may be a stuid comment and questions but what I need help with is understanding its email capabilities. How do I know that I will be able to retrieve work and personal emails with this device. Thanks in advance.

I found five in Ft Worth. BUT..business care on the telephone were not expecting them for 2 weeks, they even tried to access online to upgrade for me but the website isn’t working this morning (gee, plan ahead, eh? what are they gonna do when iPhone comes out, duh)..and the in-stores won’t give you the immediate discount, you have to fool with the rebate.
So I’m Curveless.
