Sony Playstation Portable Phone?

Yeah, it looks like Sony might be trying to revive the PSP brand with a little telecom update. They have teamed up with Europe’s BT Telecom to "transform the PSP gaming device by adding wireless broadband communications functions, including high quality handheld video calls, voice calls and messaging." Whoa, that’s hot! While the PSP is still too large to solidly function as a primary handset, the inclusion of wireless broadband technology could elevate the gaming device to an amazing level. There’s no word on specifics of any kind, so we can only speculate wildly until the actual device drops, but suffice to say that this is a pretty exciting development. Could Sony be preparing a multimedia/gaming centric iPhone competitor? Only time will tell, but the impending Apple release has certainly pushed a number of companies to step their game up. Oh what a wonderful time to be a consumer.

talk about ugly concept, there wouldn’t be no addons. If anything its probably for PSP2 integrated software to make calls over wifi or GSM or cmda carrier. It probably connect thru headset to use phone feature or bluetooth if they add that. I see it working that way for the psp.

If that is the device keep it overseas. There is already pleanty of ugly here. But if like coldcc said it uses a headset or even wifi it would prob be nicer. Althought sony had the perfect device with mylo if they had only attached a gsm/edge (3g would be too much) circuit then all this would unnecessary. I like mylo and would have gotten one instead psp for the fact that it could have been the psp, ok so make it an bit bigger and we would have been fine.

Hey guys. That’s not the concept, just a photoshopped job from the net:) The actual device, as far as I understand, will be identical to the current PSPs, possibly with the addition of a camera attachment that could clip on above the screen…rest assured it will NOT look like the beast above.

Yes, this is photoshoped. If you look at the added parts on the top and bottom, they are from the nextel i530.
