Verizon to end the phrase “Who sang that?”

Between the frustration of not knowing the new hot song on the radio, no one that’s around you knowing, and the DJ not telling you after the song is over, it’s amazing that we ever know what to download in the first place.  Enter VZ’s new VCAST Song ID. Have a VCAST phone? Hook it up with the free download, and the next time you hear a song, push a button, hold it up to the speaker and BAM: Instant title/artist/album information. Even the option to instantly purchase and download the new track is at your fingertips.  Now, if only you could hold it up to that hot girl as she talks to get her phone number…

I’d love to see it actually in practice, but if it has a high efficacy that would be really cool

Satellite Radio anyone? Soung/artist information is displayed. How about the ability to stream Sirius/XM, now that would be pretty cool. — Yes I’ve seen the 8300 post, but I subscribe to Sirius not XM :(

Cingular’s had this service for at least a year maybe more. It’s called Music ID and you don’t have to have a special phone to use it, it works on ANY Cingular phone

It’s amazing to me sometimes the amount of carrier pride there is. People are always on the defensive or offensive about carriers and I just don’t see why. Weird.

With Virgin XL, customers download the latest and greatest ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers and games, use the phone to set up a “Rescue Ring” or even identify tracks heard on the radio with SONG I.D.”

they want to protect their investment so it doesn’t seem like a waste to be shelling out the money to these companies, that most of us do.

Who Cares if Att has had this service? I agree with Ominx, the post is just giving information about what Verizon has done.

The carrier pride is crazy these days, a phone is a phone, not your life.

Well, people get defencive because they spend a bunch of money on a service and don’t want to be proven wrong. It’s human nature to try and be/have the best and to not like to be proven wrong…

oh yeah, at&t has had this for so much longer. Maybe verizon should have some original ideas instead of feeding off of all the other carriers…
