Cingular actually bought AT&T wireless several years ago, and got everything but the name. Cingular was jointly owned by SBC and Bell South. SBC aquired the rest of AT&T (and their name) recently and now they have merged with Bell South. Now that Cingular is wholly owned by "The New" AT&T (Formerly SBC) It makes sense that they want to consolidate all their names into one. Like it or not, AT&T has worldwide name recognition. Not so with SBC, Bell South or Cingular. But what else is changing? Nothing. This is still the same company, just with a different name. What’s in a name?
