Windows Mobile to get its own Norton line

Fresh off the irony of crippling countless machines, Symantec is looking to launch a new line for Windows Mobile that, according to a corporate spokesperson, will hit on May 29th.  You’ll get two flavors to choose from:  Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones ($49.95), including antivirus, antispam, firewall and data encryption capabilities, and Symantec Mobile Security 5.0 ($79.95), which adds advanced IT goodies, such as remote data wiping, and handheld auditing (good for checking to see if you’re spending your data looking at naughty bits).  For those Symbian OS folks who are already enjoying this software, your 5.0 update will arrive within the next 6 months, according to the corporate vocal cords.

As if my Windows Mobile phone isn’t slow enough has it is. Now I can install the memory hogs of memory hogs on it to make sure it’s never responsive. EXCELLENT! You can sign me up!

Let’s hope Norton is not going to crash our smartphones like it did to our PC.
