CEA moves to establish PMP connection standard

Interoperability amongst warring electronics manufacturers? Never! Proprietary standards are a sad, but seemingly necessary part of the game these days. Manufacturers and companies are fearful of losing business, primary, peripheral, or otherwise, that they lock users into a specific set of accessories, cables, and more. The CEA seems dedicated to making a change here and has published CEA-2017 to that end. CEA-2017 is perhaps unfortunately, not a science fiction novel, yet rather a set of guidelines by which it hopes "all" PMP manufacturers will abide by. The guidelines call for a "connector that will pass audio, video and associated metadata signals, control signals, and power between portable electronic devices and in-home and in-vehicle audio/video system." Yeah right! The CEA claims to have over 100 companies on board, but we’re guessing neither of them begins with A and ends with E, or starts with Micro and ends with…Well, you get the idea.
