BlackBerry Curve launch party

Word on the street is that RIM and AT&T are holding a launch party for the BlackBerry Curve on June 8th in New York City. Best believe BGR will be in attendance! In addition, multiple sources have confirmed what we suspected — AT&T is really trying to get the BlackBerry Curve out the door this month. Nothing is set in stone, but I think we can all agree that it is in everyone’s best interest to get this out sooner than later. Was that just not enough BlackBerry info for today? Oh whatever, fine guys! The BlackBerry 8120 we unearthed, will in fact be dubbed the BlackBerry Pearl 2. Until next time, your good friend BG.

I don’t know, BG… Doesn’t the friday leading into Memorial Day weekend seem like just about one of the worst days imaginable to release a high-profile phone? Just saying…

Does anybody know if the invites were already sent out by email?

I was at Cingular store and T-Mo store this weekend in the San Francisco area.
Cingular person was clueless which is SOP for Cingular with everything.
T-Mo people knew everything including stuff they don’t have. They said their stores were being discouraged from sticking too many 8800’s. They were told of possible June launch but that was not set in stone.
I stopped by the Helio store too. While an awsome device it still does not have email push with exchange servers only pop support and of course no calendar/contact/ task sync like BB enterprise. And the salesperson was using a 8700g, LOL. In the end Helio Ocean is still only a fashion IM toy like the sidekick.

Can’t wait to get it. I just sold my pearl and bought a 7290 to get used to the full qwerty again, man I missed the sweet keyboard shortcuts to launch the apps. I hope the curve’s keyboard is as nice to type on as the 7290’s

I was wondering the same thing. If anything, I would think they’d want to get the Curve “out and about” as much as possible before the weekend started, so that early-adopters can show it off to everyone at the Memorial Day barbeques and beach parties.

Guys the Curve is being pegged as a CONSUMER device! Which means it’s targeted towards everyone, not just business users like previous Blackberry devices. BG’s arrows that point towards Friday make alot of sense. If it were a business device then yes, Monday or Tuesday would make sense. But lots of people will be off from work, and the malls will be packed with people (consumers) that are there for Memorial Day Sales that are in full swing!

who cares if the date doesn’t make sense. Let get it out already

Exactly - but think of the “word-of-mouth” benefit if early adopters and/or business users had this thing in their hands early in the week to “goose” people or otherwise pique their interest?
It doesn’t really matter to me when they release it. I’m just surprised that they didn’t prime the pump just a little bit earlier in the week.
Of course, this is all subject to the assumption that BG is right.

Dammit, T-Mobile needs to roll this puppy out, and fast! I desperately need one (well, not really), and i’ll be keeping an eye out here in NYC for word of mouth about that party….I’m gonna have to crash it, lol

Question… What phone will be faster for use of the Internet… 8800 or 8300??
Dean

The Curve and the 8800 should be equal as far as speed is concerned with the internet!

Re: Curve release date—
My local Cingular store believes it is getting the 8300 this Friday, the 27th.

One of these stores needs to get gangster with it and have a Thursday @ midnight launch with cocktails etc.

Weird, my T-Mobile business rep told me that T-mobile has an exclusivity deal for the 8300, and that its coming out at the end of the summer. WTF????

Boy Genius: Do you have any update to info that pointed to this Friday, the 25th, as the release date for the Curve?

No way (June 13th At&t release)! No friggin way! It just doesn’t add up. That’s so way later than the already released Curves from other carriers. My bet is that Engadget’s anonymous tipster is wrong and that we’ll see the curve here by week’s end.

Yeah BGR, prove Engagetmobile.com wrong and confirm that I can get a Curve on Friday.

AGREED!!!!
JUNE 13TH JUST SEEMS WRONG, BUT ITS AFTER THE LAUNCH PARTY WHICH SEEMS RIGHT, PHONES DONT USUALLY LAUNCH BEFORE THE PARTY, THAT DEFEATS THE POINT OF THE “LAUNCH PARTYYYYYY”
