Samsung working on new HD Radio chipset

Samsung has announced plans to produce a new HD Radio chip that promises to deliver higher performance with lower power consumption. Few details are available at the moment, but their claims are that the chip will support "advanced HD Radio features" and be small enough for applications including mobile phones, PMP’s, and GPS systems, as well as traditional home component systems. Samsung is aiming to have a sample set ready by the end of 2007, with production quantities available by the 1st quarter of 2008. Cell phones with HD Radio on the horizon? More features are always a good thing, and we wouldn’t mind having some HD Radio action on a Samsung Ultra Edition handset…
