BlackBerry Curve now available on O2

While there’s still no official word on when AT&T or T-Mobile will release their versions of RIM’s new BlackBerry Curve, the device has unceremoniously appeared on the UK carrier O2’s page. Available for immediate purchase, RIM’s new "consumer oriented" BlackBerry can be had for "free" if you sign over a large enough portion of your monthly paycheck. No change in specs, but the BlackBerry Curve is looking as sexy and desirable as ever. Oh if only we were so lucky over here…

Was listening to The Cell Phone Junkie podcast this weekend.
Mickey (I think?) ditched his Palm for a Blackberry.
So I’m thinking - what would be more valuable if I went back to a Blackberry?
1) Have EVDO but suffer with a backdated 8703 device
2) Suffer with EDGE, but enjoy the new Blackberry curve
I think it’s like - once you’ve had EVDO or some kind of fast network connection, you can’t go back. It’s like when (shudder) for some reason I have to use a dialup network instead of my cable modem. When that happens, I feel like I’m ridin a covered wagon across the Oregon Trail.

Just went into an o2 store here in London. They have 20 and didn’t even realize they had them! Got them Friday. The device is FREE with an 18 month contract and gbp35 per month. I have one on hold pending confirmation from gsm phone source that I’ll be able to unlock it and use it on tmobile in the US….Anyone confirm that?

those are better terms than we get in the states.
Here in the states we pay about $150 for a Pearl on a two year contract. The monthly fee will vary according to the minutes, but it will be around $50/month at least.

Depends on the carrier I think. Some don’t require it. I had a carrier that said I had to have it. I said I didn’t need it, and they said you have to have it, and I was like I don’t need it, and then they said something in Paris talk, and I was like whatever…

The Verizon 8830 is Silver and very prone to scratches.
The Cingular 8830 is Black and looks alot nicer.
