MyPalm beta provides round-the-clock phone assistance

In an attempt to build brand solidarity, Palm has launched an owner’s only service for the Treo faithful. MyPalm, which is currently in beta, is a service provided free of charge to current Treo 650, 680, 700p, 700w/x, and 750 owners. By joining, members will enjoy free 24/7 phone assistance, OTA software updates and downloads, "Insider Tips," and a personal MyPalm account and homepage. Could Palm be making a half-hearted stab at social networking? Good lord we hope not! All joking aside, the interface is pretty slick, and the 24 hour a day phone support is a real bonus, It is unclear though as to what type of support is actually available.

Ha, social networking for Treo fanboys!
Seriously though, if they did that, it may be the first one designed to also be mobile browser compatible (they would surely want Treo users to be able to use it from their Treo, right?).
I’m not a Treo fan myself, but if this picks up, it may start to push the other big social networking sites to take their mobile efforts more seriously… you’d think social networking and mobile access would go hand in hand, yet the big SN sites barely work unless using a carrier-specific version (facebook has a mobile version for Cingular only, and Myspace has some effort with Helio).
May be interested to see how this pans out…
