Batteries gaining new life

Battery life has failed to improve concurrently with the increase in features and power consumption from most mobile equipment. MP3 players, laptops, cell phones, and more of our beloved devices have suffered static, or decreasing battery life as new power hungry features gets packed in. A ray of light has emerged, as researchers may have found a way to instill new life into existing Lithium-Ion battery technology. Scientists from the Department of Energy appear to have discovered an implementation of nano-technology that can increase Lithium-Ion battery capacity to twice the current level of power output. The actual technology has been around for quite a while, but this appears to be the first tangible demonstration of the practical potential of such a product. They also seem to think that the cost of mass manufacturing these new batteries should be equivalent to, or less than, the cost of current battery production. This could make it an attractive and realistic option for consumer electronics manufacturers. There’s no word as of yet as to when these juiced up cells might actually reach our hands, but the possibility of increased mobile range and life is enough to warrant a moment of silence in solemn anticipation. You may begin.
