Apple iPhone to launch June 15th?

While everyone knows that the Apple iPhone is coming out in June, there has been a significant amount of speculation as to its precise date of release. Apple has been elusive as usual on the matter, stating only that the phone is "scheduled to ship in late June." The Boy Genius Report received an interesting piece of information at our world headquarters today, and it may shed some light on the iPhone release date confusion. According to an official letter sent to all corporate AT&T employees, the Apple iPhone launch will take place on June 15th with the launch period extended until the 15th of July. AT&T isn’t even approving their employees from taking any vacations during that timeframe, due to what the company is referring to as "the biggest selling period we have seen in a few years." Way to be humble, AT&T! The reality is an iron-clad contract with Apple dictating the launch, so not even AT&T could screw this one up. Now that that’s settled, why doesn’t everyone sit back, buy an accessory or two, and practice some deep breathing for the sales floor rush on June 15th. Take a gander at the full email after the jump!

Thanks, Luis

Subject:       iPhone Launch Period

Date:           May 4, 2007

As previously announced, Apple and AT&T will soon debut the iPhone,
which combines a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and
breakthrough internet communications into one small and lightweight
handheld device.  The new AT&T has a multiyear, exclusive agreement to
provide U.S. service for the iPhone.

To ensure proper staffing during the product launch period, Sales personnel
planning to take approved time off are encouraged to schedule their
vacations before June 15 or after July 15 to participate in the iPhone
launch.

Previously approved vacation will be allowed where voluntary rescheduling
is not feasible

No additional vacation requests will be approved during the launch period
(6/15 – 7/15).

I want to thank you in advance for your understanding as this is likely to
be the biggest selling period we have seen in a few years.

Happy Selling,

do not get me wrong … im a big apple fan! but the iphone not beeing available to other services is goin to be apples biggest flaw. I would LOVE to buy the ipone but im not willing to give up the great service and the perfect plans that i recieve from Alltel to own an iphone. Its going to be just like the ipod when it fisrst came out, and wasnt available to PC users. The ipod didnt become a hit until it was available to everyone……you would think apple would learn from that. (just a thought)

Don’t you know how powerfun the iphone is? Why bash a great product for the fact that you can’t afford it. Either you are with apple, or you are not. If not..don’t waste peoples time here. Apple always likes to please their loyal fan base, and they always meet/beat our expectations. My question is…what’s next after Iphone…

There’s a book you need to read called “macintosh: the naked truth”. There is a whole chapter on people who call themselves “apple fans” and then go and put apple down somehow. No one who enjoys apple’s products would ever call themselves an apple fan, you are a MAC USER. So next time save the “well i love apple too” BS when we all can see through your wintel using front. :)

There is one industry standard “missing” from iPhone that MANY phones still do not have called 3G. This is faster than cingular’s edge technology as it is currently implemented. However, this is a product that came together before 3G was really given the nod for industry-wide adoption. It still has wifi, which is WAY faster than any cell network based data rate. I only know of one other phone that has bluetooth, cell data, and wifi, and i am pretty sure it also uses edge from cingular, not sure if it has 3G. It also does not run osx, so i wouldn’t be interested in it anyways. That is one thing people are seeming looking over. iPhone is not prone to cell phone viruses. There are no known viruses for osx, so it would be immune to any widespread attacks via email or mms etc.

I would love to get this iphone but Im not willing to change from Alltel. Sprint/AT&T/Cingular has the worse customer service I’ve ever experianced. Im not willing to change excellant service for a device. If apple really wants to sell this device they need to open up to a broader audience.

I agree..They would have to give me the iphone for free with at least 6 months free service for me to even concider leaving alltel. Alltel is the best when it comes to service.

The iphone looks like a gr8 device but truth be told-6 months down the line it will be another device out there just as hot as the iphone. You can believe the competitors are in the lab working hard ;-)

The iphone will be a great phone that other competitors will copy. Apple will truly out beat anybody, no matter how hard they try. Face the facts, Apple will always be the leader that the rest try to fellow. Remember service is one thing, but first class technology is another. Cingulars service has always been great. Now I will have a First class phone to go with a first class service.

compares or will compare to this phone unless it is copied. I dont want to hear people talking about, oh my service this and my service that. People, once you have this phone in your hand and play with it. You will want it.I seen it in real time with the other verizon folks.PLAN AND SIMPLE. Theres nothing like it. Bash all you want, but you will face the facts sooner or later. Apple, I have come back to my roots! Good Job!

if you want the iphones features and not the phone part. get the ipod touch. Heck that is the only reason I would consider one. A phone like the iphone can all the features it wants, but service wthat coems with is just or more important.

to the poster concerned about Apple not developing a phone that is available to everyone…just a quick note…people have already developed software to unlock the iPhone to make it usable with other cell service providers. Apple didn’t allow third party software development (which is changing with the 2.0 software update), but people still found a way to develop software for the iPhone. Some day the iPhone will be provider neutral, but until then, there is a way to unlock the phone anyway.
