Apple iPhone to launch June 15th?

While everyone knows that the Apple iPhone is coming out in June, there has been a significant amount of speculation as to its precise date of release. Apple has been elusive as usual on the matter, stating only that the phone is "scheduled to ship in late June." The Boy Genius Report received an interesting piece of information at our world headquarters today, and it may shed some light on the iPhone release date confusion. According to an official letter sent to all corporate AT&T employees, the Apple iPhone launch will take place on June 15th with the launch period extended until the 15th of July. AT&T isn’t even approving their employees from taking any vacations during that timeframe, due to what the company is referring to as "the biggest selling period we have seen in a few years." Way to be humble, AT&T! The reality is an iron-clad contract with Apple dictating the launch, so not even AT&T could screw this one up. Now that that’s settled, why doesn’t everyone sit back, buy an accessory or two, and practice some deep breathing for the sales floor rush on June 15th. Take a gander at the full email after the jump!

Thanks, Luis

Subject:       iPhone Launch Period

Date:           May 4, 2007

As previously announced, Apple and AT&T will soon debut the iPhone,
which combines a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and
breakthrough internet communications into one small and lightweight
handheld device.  The new AT&T has a multiyear, exclusive agreement to
provide U.S. service for the iPhone.

To ensure proper staffing during the product launch period, Sales personnel
planning to take approved time off are encouraged to schedule their
vacations before June 15 or after July 15 to participate in the iPhone
launch.

Previously approved vacation will be allowed where voluntary rescheduling
is not feasible

No additional vacation requests will be approved during the launch period
(6/15 – 7/15).

I want to thank you in advance for your understanding as this is likely to
be the biggest selling period we have seen in a few years.

Happy Selling,

Thanks for the information. I find it strange that I am so excited about a phone that will cost me my first born.

This will be a very dynamic and useful media pda! That alone is enough to get excited about… I do feel strongly that the at&t retail stores will only get a few in during that first week.

Also, with June 15th as a Friday, that will make for a fun weekend as we cram in all the I-Phone’s workings and our contact lists before work on Monday.

I won’t even bother getting one (if I play with it and decide its for me) before August. It will just be insane and I’m not about to step on anyone for this device.

signing up for foreigners is going to be impossible. att has ridiculously high deposit demands even for its own citizens; you need a really solid, long US credit history, social security number and yes, domocile in US.

Remember, the day these go on sale, they will be sold at both cingular/att stores AND apple retail stores. I plan to stay the night in NYC and hopefully with the sheer number of att stores and the 5th ave store being 24 hours i should be able to get one. Now, i guess some people are going to have the same idea as me, i just hope i get 2 phones the first day so my girlfriend isn’t waiting for hers while i have mine. Happy hunting!

I doubt there will be long lines on this phone, even iPOD fanatics will not consider on buying this phone, it’s not 100% complete and missing a few functions here and there. So all the people who plan on camping it is a waste of time and energy, I bet you if you go anytime during the day there will still be instock. In a way this phone is highly over rated, and plus, it’s not a PS3 or XBOX or Wii. Think clearer guys.

Missing important features? Like what? The whole phone is software based. I would love to hear your explanation!

You know it really annoys me that biased (sometimes based on one’s employer) inputs on these kinds of sites really does not help anyone, all it does is cause confusion for the readers. The only thing missing from the iPhone is my hand around it making a call. It has features that no other mobile phone has, and could, with more battery and slightly more powerful cpu, come to replace the smaller laptops some folks use. I often forget something and i can’t get the info on my phone, so i wait till i get home to use my iBook or such. I can’t imagine how much more efficient my day to day activities will be when i can check my favorite sites from anywhere whenever i want/need. Gone will be the days of waiting at home for an e-mail to arrive! If you watched the iPhone intro at the MWSF 2007 keynote, you’ll see how amazing this device really is. And, jobs said there will be more of this type of device in the future from apple. While people are entitled to their opinion, misleading and obviously false information should be deleted as to save people time from reading the useless drivel.
