Yahoo launches web-based Yahoo IM

The big "3" is kind of funny when you look at it. The top 3 search engines that is. Their strive to out do one another, the constant race to increase email storage, and ofcourse the Instant Messaging partnerships cat fights. Google has had GoogleTalk integrated into their GMail webclient for a while now, and Microsoft has had their share of the web-based madness. Yahoo finally caught up, and in a big way if I do say so myself. Definitely the cleanest, and sleekest looking web-based IM I’ve seen in a while, and the great part? It works really well, plus it’s is also compatible with your Windows Live Messenger buddies. It’s all based on Flash 9 just like iGoogle’s GoogleTalk widget. I just wish they’d have integrated picture, and file sending capabilities. It’s definitely worth checking out if you use Yahoo IM.

Yahoo’s had a webmessenger for at least a year in java form, but this one looks nicer. I hope when it comes out of beta (don’t pull a Gmail on us please) that you’ll be able to break it out in a seperate window…
