This is a problem with any internet connected phone: minutes cost, and so do data.
In fact, the 20 dollar data plan is the same price as the MEdiaNet package from Cingular, so I see nothing so different there: there are already customers paying these prices, and these prices are actually a little cheaper than previous plans.

None of these prices indicate that the iPhone will drop in price. Furthermore, Apple has price protection on their products sold through the retail stores: if you buy from them, and they drop price within 14 days, you can come back and they give you the difference.

None of your post indicates a reason to wait. There may be good reasons, but you didn’t supply any.

That doesn’t bode well. That was five years in the future….if the best thing the President can get his hands on in the future is a 5 year old iPhone, I don’t think I want to be a part of that future…;)

As a cell phone novice, I’m intrigued by the Iphone. Is there any site or comparison which doesn’t degrade the competitiors where I can get an honest assessment? I like how the Iphone looks, as well as the RIM phones, PDA’s in general.

Hopfully the display will be a bigger hit than the original PTT display… That thing started to fall apart after two weeks and Cingular had to send out “repairmen” to do some tweaking to the signage.

I also remember the original Apple/Cingular Music display. We were originally told to make sure music is playing all the time on it, then were told to keep the music off unless we were demoing it for a customer. Seems others in the mall complained about the music being on all the time….

Lets hope this display is put together a little better…

Do you have any idea how crisp and sharp an 160ppi 320 x 480 display is? No you don’t because you’ve never seen any monitor or any display at this resolution before. This is just one of the STUNNING features of the iPhone that will blow everything else off the map.

Jobs has the bar set low at first year estimated sales of 1mil. I bet he does triple that. I don’t care if it is primarily non executives that buy it or not he will hit big numbers and the stock goes up!

PS. I have a blackberry but am considering giving up the bulky tech for the Iphone since I don’t use the e-mail much and the web searching will be much better on the Iphone.

What people forget is that “consumer” stuff drives what makes it into the enterprise in a lot of ways.

That’s the reason you have Windows in the office instead of OS/2. The original strategy was OS/2 for work, Windows 3.x at home. Except that people wanted to use in the office what they used at home.

Are phones the same as desktop operating systems? No. But the example remains. People adopt all kinds of technology when it works well for them. If the iPhone does all it says it will do, I imagine there will be some workplace crossover, even without the blackberry enterprise services.

I have never replied here, but felt the ridiculous banter regarding executives and iPhone prices to be, well, ridiculous.

…It was merely a comment about the iPhone not taking a lot of market share away from the corporate world, though I do agree that Blackberry is now enjoying celebrity use and that may diminish some…not a major deal.

And, I cannot believe that multiple people corrected someone about the price…I assume 700 was hyperbole, so please stop taking this stuff so seriously.
