Microsoft Zune Marketplace Hits 3 Million Songs
Microsoft is shouting the praises of it’s Zune Marketplace today with the addition of their 3 millionth song. This is still about 2 million shy of Apple’s iTunes, but the benefit of the Zune Marketplace’s music subscription service means that you can listen to any one of these 3 million songs as long as you are paying your monthly membership. It’s an impressive amount of songs for a service that’s only been around less then a year, but then again it is Microsoft after all. The Zune also offers the ability to send songs to other Zune users for 3 plays / 3 days. To top it all off Microsoft has released a limited edition pink Zune just in time for mother’s day. If you’re really fighting the Apple machine, there is no harm to show the Zune some love.

Would love a joost invite! Wonder if you could get the video on a zune…
And what they don’t tell you is that not all 3 million tracks are available if you’re a subscriber. The press release says: “Zune Marketplace offers for purchase more than 3 million song titles…” If you search diligently on Microsoft’s Zune site as I had to, it says “Some content providers have chosen not to allow their content to be downloaded with a Zune Pass. These tracks can only be purchased using Microsoft Points.” (and, as of last month, there were quite a few tracks that were like this) In sum: Microsoft is misleading about the “Zune pass”, this post is downright incorrect. Please fix it.
