Dude, You’re Getting An Ubuntu Dell

Dell has been promising desktops without the "Windows Tax" added to it since its users demanded it on Dell’s IdeaStrom site back in February. Finally Dell has now delivered on that promise by including Linux distro Ubunto "Feisty Fawn" 7.04 on new desktops and notebooks. Dell previously tried to sell Linux desktops and laptops from 1999 through 2001, but canceled the program do to a lack of demand. Currently Dell certifies Red Hat or Suse Linux for use on some business-oriented PCs. They feel that Linux has progressed to a level that is customer friendly enough to be used for day-to-day items. So all you anti-Microsoft and anti-Apple folks can rejoice, you will no longer have to run the latest buggy release from either company, today you are set free to march to your own beat. It’s a great win for the open source movement.

Anyone else notice how quickly this occurred after Dell started offering XP again to home users?

If Dell decided they were going to accept whatever penalties / give up benefits Microsoft imposes on OEMs to force them to sell Vista only, I guess they decided to go all the way.
