BlackBerry 8830 world phone teasers

That can seem like an eternity, but fortunatetly both companies are offering a splash teaser page until they are released. Hey BG,
I read that Verizon will begin shipping with the GPS functionality disabled. If this is true, and they later decide to enable the functionality, will I be able to do it with a software upgrade or will I have to replace the hardware?
Is 83xx series coming to Verizon? Is it a world phone? Might as well wait for that one if it is.
Sprint’s 8830 is apparently SIM unlocked.
I am still confused. What is does a hybrid phone do for me? Is it possible that I buy this verizon 8300 and use it on the AT&T (Cingular) network in the USA as a GSM phone?
