Sprint Announces PPC-6800

Sprint has sent out the data sheet for their upcoming PPC-6800 (HTC Titan). What a great phone, if it only included Windows Mobile 6 and EV-DO Rev A., instead of hinting at the possibilities of being able to upgrade later. Featuring a 2.8" QVGA LCD screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD card, and 2-megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus and camcorder, it is expected to launch late next month as the replacement to the PPC-6700.

They haven’t scheduled a release date but some people on PPCwarez.com claim to have a verizon rom that you can put on the 6800 that works on the Verizon network.

I already have a problem. The round navigation button no longer respond to the left click (when viewing the phone in portrait mode). I just called tech support and they are sending me a replacement. Cnet.com had a blurb in their review about the poor quality of this button.

I got mine Thursday. Ordered Tuesday night. I have the same problem with it insisting that flash is not installed or corrupted. I’ve removed the flash player multiple times, rebooted, deleted it from the registry, rebooted, reinstalled.

    Same problem repeats.

Been on hold for a long time today (Sat) waiting for technical support to pick up. I don’t even get an ‘estimated time’ when I ask for technical support! It will be a good battery rundown test.

So Far, I’m happy with the phone and WM6, but I’ve still got a lot of poking around to do. I’ve launched ‘On Demand’, looked up a movie (Live Free or Die Hard) took my 13 year old son to it (AWESOME MOVIE).

The speaker is plenty loud and much better than my Samsung A900 (that’s still on my plan and I’m sending to my mom in TN). Getting my number transferred from my Sprint A900 to the Spring 6800 Mogul took 4-1/2 hours and 5, count ‘em, 5 calls - the first 4 ‘accidently dropped’ me after 45 minutes to an hour. Poor understanding of English - gotta get away from the outlying provinces in India!

I think Sprint needs to step their Tech support up. my content manager still has me set up with my M1. And nobody could answer my questions about getting ringtones or regular picture mail without using e-mail. can somebody please tell me how i can get real ringtones and get my pics from my album?!

The way to get “real” ringtones on he 6800 is to put mp3’s on your storage card and your ringtones directory will recognize it. From there you can slelect it and use it. That way your ringtones are free too!

I had the same “need latest adobe flash” problem but I was able to reslolve the issue. Turns out the latest flash from adobe is buggy. I did a search on google for adobe flash version 8 instead of their latest version 9. Found it (sorry don’t have link right now) and installed it instead of 9.0 and then I was able to install the active sync software. I’m on my PPC 6800 now and I love it. Hope this helps

    Triune,

how did you get over the booting issue that other wm6 developers for the 6700 have had.

It would be such a great asset to the community if you would share your wm6 rom and how you overcame the obstacles to making it work.

I hope that one day you will reconsider sharing it with the rest of us.
