Sprint has sent out the data sheet for their upcoming PPC-6800 (HTC Titan). What a great phone, if it only included Windows Mobile 6 and EV-DO Rev A., instead of hinting at the possibilities of being able to upgrade later. Featuring a 2.8" QVGA LCD screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD card, and 2-megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus and camcorder, it is expected to launch late next month as the replacement to the PPC-6700.

Wonderful, as if Sprint isn’t behind already, let’s delay the 6800 another 6 months. I’m truly getting tired with Sprint. Gotta be hard to be competetive when you’re always behind.

I got a question, if you have a 6700 by sprint, could you maybe download the Verizon WM6? The have it out for download for this model. The only reason I ask if that when I called sprint they said I could buy any phone on ebay that sprint had and they would activate it. So meaning since it’s the same hardware, why not put there os on and go from there. I mean for the users who need to buy a phone now like me. Anyone? Anyone? post if you know. Thanks

I think the 6600 was better then the 6700 my 6700 locks up all the time

That’s entirely wrong. Sprint has always had the best phones and had them first with the exception of the “Razor!” Sprint was the first US provider to carry the Treo 650, 6600, the 6700! Verizon and Sprint both work on the CDMA network and they both have the same PDAs.

Nelson, If you remember with the 6700, Sprint did the same thing. They released it to the business accounts first before the personal accounts and there was a significant difference in the time too. It was almost 3 months that business accounts had the 6700 before personal accounts did.

I’ve heard that the 6800 is being pushed out from the release date is due to fixes they are doing to bring Rev A to it and also WM6. They want it to come out by end of June. Guess I’ll just wait and see….

Well that’s good news! I would rather wait and get the right version than them rush it and have to issue upgrades later. The 6700 is great for me as of now, so waiting isn’t that bad.

With the iPhone coming out, I wish HTC/Sprint would use the extra time to incorporate more iPod-like storage space and capabilities, along with the WM6.0 & EV-DO Rev. A. Such a phone would be an iPhone killer! I sure hope they are putting some thought into this.

yeah they could possibly be doing something else, but i wouldn’t hold my breath on it. I have read on other forums that the sprint rep wait that it will be worth the wait as if they were doing something different, but i doubt it just because HTC would have to do that, not sprint

I think Sprint is going to inceease all memory but for the functions of the phone to run mpre stable, not for ipod capabilities. Which is just fine! I want the best possible pocket PC, I already have an ipod.

Sup fellow cutting edge tech geeks! did you guys know that the (tytn=6800) actually originally comes with a video phone button and separate camera built into the device? this means that sprint specifically had to request htc to alter the design of this device in order to downgrade it to their specs. I wonder why sprint has such low expectations of themselves….. Their a cool company, decent signal, ok devices etc, but they could be some much better. The tytn is actually already outdated, htc has a new device to replace the tytn/6800 and sprint still has not released the 6800 as of yet? come on guys, step your game up baby!

Do you have a link for the description and specs of this new device? Thanks.

No. however, you can find it at the htc web site. I will find it again and post the link.

I would appreciate that. Thanks

The Titan that Sprint has coming out is an upgrade from the TyTn that Cingular has as the 8525.
Smaller, auto opening keyboard, a few other things I forgot to remember.
It is not the same phone.

I have been hearing of a new release date of June 18… this is an unconfirmed rumor, but it sounds a hell of alot better than october… Whether windows 6 & rev.A will be on it, is still in the air, but like i said it is an unconfirmed rumor… So all we can do is hope and pray that its true

Where did you hear that rumor? Reason being is, I have a friend that works for Sprint and he says they are still working some qwerks out on the phone and he doesn’t even know when it’s coming out.

All of you guys are complaining abbout WM6? Why not just flash a custom rom into the 6800? I have WM6 on my 6700. What’s the big deal? If you want to upgrade your 6700 rom to WM6, here’s the link.

I heard the rumor from pdaphonehome.com, and other websites on their discussion forums. I’ve heard rumors of October, june 18th, early July, etc. so i don’t know which one is correct. I have asked a few sprint reps in different stores, and they all said october, but then again they could be wrong… so we just have to wait and see to find out… So do you all think i should just get a 755p or wait until october (if that is the accurate release date)??? because if it comes out before august, i’ll just wait

I have a friend who just bought the 755p. I have the 650 and other than the no antenae, it’s just not worth considering. I also noticed the internet is as slow as my 650 and that’s supposed to have 3G. If Sprint yanks delays the Oct date for the 6800 I’m going to be disappointed. Sprint phone technology totally sucks.

How does Spint technology suck? You guys are so spoiled! Even if the 6800 comes out on Oct. It’ll be the first company in America to come out with a phone with it’s proposed processor, indicator lights, Rev A, and WM6. So stop whinning! If you have a 6700 as I do, please understand that you have thee fastest PPC offered on the market (with only Verizon being equal with the same phone), and this phone was release in Oct 05! Other carriers have had updates to their PPC’s like the 8525, and T Molbile Wing and they still don’t have the capabilities of the 6700. Relax guys, the 6800 is coming. Sprint has always been an inovator of phone technology in the US, so be patient, when the device is working properly, and it’s the right time to release it, they will!
